Well, I am a diehard Everquest player, and my girlfriend is a new EQ2 player. She keeps trying to sway me to her cause, but I am steadfast in my resolve. (I'm also a bit pissed because I introduced her to EQ1 with the intent of playing with her, not for her to go immediately to EQ2.)

Anyways, last night as she was playing she had to go AFK to cook. Since she was in a guild group she asked me to man her computer for a few minutes. She was a healer, with a tank, rogue and some caster in group. I was shown a few heal spells and the map and left to my own devices.

Now, I have a 62 cleric and have been a healer for five years, but I just could not manage in EQ2. First off, I was having trouble moving because of my girlfriend's setup. While inverting the mouse my group went off and engaged in a mob. By the time I caught up the MT was dead, rogue almost dead and the caster was hiding somewhere. I tried to heal the rogue, couldn't keep up, rogue died and I was next. Smiley: blush

Rezzes all around, then we get back together. I now am comfortable with the control setup, so we start off again. Next mob we take, I'm doing all right, healing the main tank...oops I think I hit the wrong spell...wow that's got a long casting time. I wonder what it's gonna do....nothing? Damn, better get those heals going. But I don't know which heal is which - quick small heal or big long heal. Eventually the tank dies again, I'm out of power and the rogue is getting beat on...when he somehow manages to win!

After that I quickly vacated the seat before my girlfriend could stab me with her fork for getting everyone killed. I made my apologies and went back to Counter-Strike, telling my gf that I sucked at EQ2 and she should stop bothering me to play. Smiley: laugh

I have had that happen in other games.. that just goes to show you that you can't just pick up a mid to high level char in a game you have never played even if you are fam.. with that type of class.( hence why people that buy high level chars suck so bad)

Good story though.. maybe she will let you me.. that or make you start an alt and figure the game out.. you know she will win in the long run.. you might as well give in..

Actually, healing and targeting IMO is much easier in EQ2 than 1, once you get used to it, of course. Just always keep the MT targeted, then any offense (melee or spells) will go to whatever he has targeted. And, since you already have him targeted, your heals go to him also. Clicking on anything (group members or mobs) is a bit tougher, though. F-keys and tab are your friend.

I think you should try it again. Only, not on my server, or in my group. Smiley: grin

I did have a newbie mage on her account to get familiarized with the game, but played for about 2 hours then she wiped him for a new char of her own. Smiley: laugh
