New to tradeskills and eq2Follow

Hey well just got off the damned isle and I'm a lvl 3 artisan and a lvl 8 Fighter (Soon to be Paladin) Well I was wondering because I picked artisan over adventuerer does that mean anything? Also how is this strategy?

-Once my Fighter is lvl 10 I will shich over to trradeskill xp and level that up to 15 so I can make armor.

-Then once every 5 (Say my toon is lvl 35.)levels I will re level my tradeskilling and harevsting teqniques to max so I can make my armor for the up coming levels (I'll aim for 5 levels higher, so that my Tradeskill level is always 5 levels above my adevntuering level. So if my toon is level 30 his tradeskill level will be 35. )

-Finally once I need money I will make low level armor and re-sell it back to public, making a prophit for me in the end.

(Of course I don't know what I need to harvest, but I'll figure it out. This is only a general startegy I came up with last night. And another thing, because I will become an armorer, does that mean all the other tradeskills I don't use will suck? Even if I have to make some ingrediants?)

I know tradeskilling will take hours on end but I know that it will really come in handy being able to sell armor so I can buy spells, and weapons. And also I won't have to spend as much as 25 plat to buy the armor from another player. Slick eh? Sike! But I really do want a response on the artisan adventuerer thing. I mean does it mean that in a later expansion I may not be able to get an epic weapon? (Going based on EQ 1 on epics now =P I hated those didn't you?) but more back on task here. And also why the hell would you decorate your room just seems confusering to me.

Thanks again!
(You may flame me for being stupid if you want. Dind't mean to offend those who enjoy decorating rooms or of mentiong eq 1.)

Nope, that's just for flavor, at least according to everything I've ever heard.

The other tradeskills will not progress beyond a certain level. For example, at level 10, you will have 3 choices of crafter to choose from -- scholar, outfitter, craftsman. To be an armorer, you'd pick outfitter...and from then on, you would not get any more recipes for scholars/craftsmen (no spells, no food, no furniture, etc.) You get to keep all your old recipes though.
As to making ingredients, if an ingredient you need is not in your outfitter or armorer books, you have two choices. Either buy it from some other tradeskiller who makes that ingredient, or make it yourself using one of 4 crossover skills that everyone can use. (They are timbercraft, weaving, apothecary, and geomancy.) You won't have to worry about those until you reach lvl 10 tradeskill though, but eventually you will have to use some or all of those skills. Hope that wasn't too confusing. :)

If you have a more expensive, bigger house (in other words, not your inn room), furniture can help reduce your weekly upkeep costs.

The Artisan/Adventurer only has one impact in the game, it gives you access to higher zones.

So let's say there's a zone that you can only go to if you're either level 32 or do the access quest. Well it doesn't matter whether you get to 32 in your class or trade first, you get access.

Your plan for levelling up sounds fine but don't be surprised if it doesn't quite work out that way Smiley: smile

As for decorating your room, I felt like you to begin with, couldn't see the point. Then it's like eating crisps, once you start you can't stop Smiley: grin

The good people at EQTraders tell us that Artisan was added at their request because some crafters are rabid about their function in the game, and would not accept being Adventurers :P. They helped Sony a LOT with crafting, so I trust their explanation.

When you go to crafting, be sure to craft a few components for sale - the ones used by other classes of crafter. Spikes (used by jewelers to make runes), sheets (used by woodworkers to make strongboxes), and other components are in short supply. You will find getting tempers is often expensive (they start at 3s each on my server, Faydark). Sony's main reason for putting in those component crafting skills is that crafters were asking too much for such components (3s is STILL too much, if you ask me, but it's better than the 5-10s that it was).

Using the component crafting skill will bring it up to snuff. I have had players tell me they are terrible at making tempers and such (WORT for wases, oils, resins, and tempers) but as a 21 Jeweler, my Thaumaturgy skill is equal to my Alchemy skill, and I can craft T2 WORTS (Stroma) with either one, and have equal success.

If you join a guild, you may be able to purchase a crafting station. A good crafting station is more than a piece of furniture, it is a place to make components. If your guild is level 25 or higher, you can get a really good station and make primary and finished items with it. Also, if you get a REAL room, crafted furniture reduces the status cost of the room, making it useful for more than just something to look at.

In order to outfit yourself with the best stuff for your adventure level, you're actually going to want your tradeskill level to be at least 10 higher.

I make enough money selling the stuff I make to level my trade, and from adv. drops, to buy the good stuff from other crafters when I hit a new tier. I had more than enough for a whole set of feyiron plate, a weapon and shield, all imbued where possible, when hit 30. I couldn't make any of them at that point.
