Soloing EQIIFollow

#1 May 30 2005 at 4:37 AM Rating: Decent
Hi, im coming from FFXI and looking to possibly switch to EQII, wht I really wante to know (as I havn't found a real answer by Googling yet) is how soloable is EQII.

By soloable I know there will be time when I need to form groups to do quests, and that groups will probably give better EXP, but how easy and fun is it to solo, comparedto say FFXI's beastmaster?

Thanks.

Everyone here is likely to have a personal opinion on how easy or how difficult it is to solo in this game...

As for me, I tend to solo a lot because I like to! I play both a lvl 23 ranger and a lvl 23 warden. With either, I can solo white and yellow targets with no trouble. Orange and red mobs get a little dicey but are doable. So far, over the course of this 3 day weekend I have already made 2.5 levels with my ranger, (started at 21 on Friday night), and it's only Sunday night!!!

I think that how successful you are at soloing is going to be dependent on:

A) how well you play your toon
B) what class you choose to solo with
C) how well geared you are &
D) what your expectations are

About the last, if you expect to take on epic targets that are 10 levels above you... well it's probably not going to happen for you! On the other hand, if you go after mobs that are your equal or less, I think you'll find that this is a very soloable game.

And keep in mind that group mobs, being harder, give better loot.

EQ2 is very soloable for the most part, or atleast is is for me. The majoriy of the qsts so far have been soloable with the odd one requiring fighting epic mobs but most I have found to be soloable. The trick is to know what you can do, any single mob yellow or less is a piece of cake, if they are grouped I prefer to keep it to greens or weaken blues.

You can solo fairly well in this game... not as easily as you can in WoW but definately...definately better than FFXI. I've soloed my wizard to 23.6 without any troubles, I got 60 percent exp (based on 100 percent exp per level ) in about an hour 45 minutes just now. Of course, it all depends on your skill and how well you know your class. But if you were a BST in FFXI and solo'ed that, you really should have no problem learning how to solo in EQ2.

Some classes can solo a little better than others, but all classes can solo. My bard, for instance, can take on group mobs much, much easier than my wizard. But it takes my bard longer to kill mobs because my wizard does a lot more damage *shrug* so depends on you class.

I've soloed my fury to level 29. I can usually pull four yellows at this level, throw 1 or 2 heals during the fight and i'm good to go. Since i'm able to do this I can still get 1.5% per group pull at level 29 which isn't half bad. Still, i'm oom after the fight and if I get high resists I might have to end up running. Overall, i'd say it's way easier to solo in EQ 2 verses EQ 1. In World of Warcraft it's even easier to solo then in EQ 2.

I find EQ 2 is a perfect balance of challenge verses reward. You can solo but it still feels like a huge accomplishment to gain a level. Crafting is also fun and rewarding.

Yea, crafting is another thing that I really want to do, badly
