I have done everything including killing Lord Byron, journal says speak to Valinye for final piece. He now just says:
You don't have to leave, you know. Maybe we could find a chessboard: I could tell you how to move it. Wait ... all right. At least come back, I've got plenty of coin:

But he doesn't update my journal? Any ideas please?

Are you sure you're the right level? He's asking you to come back so that would be my first guess..

Quest level says 23 and i'm currently 33, i did a CS but the GM said check with other players to see if something missing.

Have you tried killing the mobs over again and then hailing him? You might not have killed enough or some of the kills might not have registered. If that doesnt work would you be willing to restart the quest? Cause i dont know what else could be wrong unless the quest is bugged.

Edit: Its apparently important that you hail the NPC guy between each task too.
