A Better Way to Tradeskill....Follow

Im a part time eq2 player and i enjoy tradeskilling. One thing ive noticed during my time playing this game is that in order to make higher level tradeskill items (T3 or T4) you need components that can only be created by other characters. This can be frustrating trying to obtain the components you need at certain times. The components might not be available or they may be overpriced. I suggest a solution to this problem. A new trade system that has a middle man npc as a trade medium would help everybody immensely. This npc (a task master if you will) would be the intermediary where a person who needed component A, but was unable to make said component, could go to the task master put in a request for that item, deposit the amount of money they were willing to pay and then wait for a crafter with the skill to make the component and was willing to work for the amount offered to come along and make the component. Heres a short example how the system would work. Bob wants to make some spells scrolls but he needs quills. He is unable to craft the quills he needs himself so he goes to the task master deposits 5 gold and puts in a request for 20 pristine quills. Then bob goes off to explore dungeons and slay dragons and such while waiting for his order to be filled. John wants to make some money and help people out at the same time so he checks with the task master to see what work orders are available. After browsing through the list he notices an order for 20 pristine quills for 5 gold. He decides that he can make these for bob and make a little cash at the same time. He makes the quills and then drops them off with the taskmaster and collects his 5 gold. John then goes off and buys that new sword he's been wanting. Meanwhile, bob has finished fighting off the dragon invasion and returns to check on his order, checks in with the task master and voila, the quills are ready for him to pick up. Bob makes his spells and continues on with his adventures. Sorry about the not so short example but thats how i imagine a system like this working. I would suggest the taskmaster be placed inside the tradeskill zones. and to keep people from ordering too many items implement a limit to the number of active orders and charge a small fee like the brokers. Im sure this would make the game much more interesting and enjoyable for people who are trying to become better craftsman but want to spend more time adventuring. Anybody have any thoughts on this.

You use to be able to buy things from npc's but they took that away. I doubt you will ever see them put it back. Now something I take it you don't know is there are "cross-training" books you can buy that will allow you to make items that you would normally need someone else to.

Any crafter can make all his own refines and products. It takes a bit longer but you can do it.

Its a difficult to read proposal (you should really try some paragraphs).

What he's saying isn't that he wants vendors to sell items, but that he wants a system where he can register an order and anyone can go fill it.

There would need to be some sort of reservation system, otherwise you'd go make some obscure, little needed item, and meanwhile 3 other guys did the same, and only 1 of you gets the payoff, while the other 3 get nothing. So maybe you can "reserve" the order for some period of time while you go make them.

Anyway, I think the current system works fine:
1. You can make most subcombines you need, even cross craft, you just can't make them as well or as easily as that class.
2. You can go buy the items you need from a broker.
3. You can look for "LFW" crafters of the appropriate type, and commission the items you want from someone of the appropriate artisan class and level.

I kind of like your idea, don't get me wrong, but it would be difficult to implement properly. And I'm not entirely sure its needed.

Ok I got ya.. like a broker for work orders.. that is kind of what the lfw does now but in an off and online setting. Not a bad idea but I think the above poster is right in the fact that between you having the ability to do it... finding them on the broker or highering someone they won't bother adding something like that..

I reckon the idea is great.. Would it not work the same as those trade houses (gah cant remember what they're called..) like in WoW? For those that haven't played WoW but have played EQ1 it would work the same as a bazaar except you handed whatever item/items to an NPC and set a timer on how long you wanted the item to be "for sale" for and then went away. Others could then search for the item using the NPC's. This incuded when you were offline etc and then the money arrived in your inbox for letters which you could then put into your bank or whatever. Just a thought really.. Hope this makes sense..
