If you don't have alot of time to play I tink eq2 would be one of the better MMORPG's for you. Please keep in mind I am compareing the game mechantics of eq1 to eq2. In eq2 the quests are generally less time consuming (well in some cases, some more rewarding quests involve the classic camps still). Also pretty much any class and any level can solo on eq2. So if you don't have alot of time you can still level, however leveling while soloing does become insanely slow and tedious at upper levels.

One thing you should do if you start playing is go to a higher population server. I am currently on one of the lowest population servers in the game and at higher levels it is almost impossible to form a group. At lower levels you can solo just about all quests, and you can get decent exp just soloing. However you get up into the 30's, 40's, 45+ Id guess 90% of quests involve mobs you can not solo.

Something you might find annoying is alot of zones required "Access Quests" to enter. Not only do these bottleneck the amount of people that can hunt those zones, but nearly every one of these quests requires a group to complete.

I think it is a overall good game, I still pay to play it at least. I am alot happier with eq2 then I am with eq1 though. Everquest 2 is alot less hardcore then everquest 1 ever was.

I would recommend this game. I was an EQ 1 person, then went to WOW, then ended up with EQ 2. EQ 2 is not as hard core as EQ1 but is way heavier then WOW. It's a rather good balance from what i've been able to gather. My highest character is only level 27, but i'm still finding the game more fun then work which is a good thing. Most grinding can be hidden within questing. Also, even though there are less zones the zones are huge. Get it and give it a try.

And another strong point to EQ2 is the crafting system whcih is hard but rewarding. There are so many recipes out there that you can always be looking forward to craft new thing. So when you tire of grinding and questing, you can go and start making things, like spells upgrade, armor, weapon, arrows, poisons, potions, furniture for your house and alot more.

So even if some quest are hard and need time to accomplish there is still alot of content that can be done with smaller period of gaming.

Don't waste your time with EQ 2 or throw your money away on an SOE product.
