New To Everquest IIFollow

Hey guys, I'm new to EQII. I downlaoded the trial, I like it and I'm going to go buy it tommorow.

Anything I should know about the early day's of the game? Any common mistakes I should avoid or any quests I should make sure to get?

I played EQ 1 for a while as a Necro and ShadowKnight (Level 20 and 28). Im currently playing RoseOnline (www.roseon.com open beta) and have a level 133 Mage. In EQII I'm pretty sure I want to be a Wizard.

So just saying hi and wondering what things to avoid and what I should make sure to do!

PS: I picked Grobb server. Is there a difference between servers? Is there a server with more people, or one with higher level players or clans? I remember EQ 1 I played on Ralos Zek (PvP server), is there something similar in EQII?

Sorry for all the questions, and I'll appreciate any answers... I hate being a noob to a new game but hopefully soon I'll be high level -)

Do the quests!!!!

There are literally 10-15 quests per city zone and are all of varying levels. Not only are they great exp, but they provide nice loot and armor for the 1st 15 levels or so. You can level to 12 or 13 without even leaving the main city of Qeynos/Freeport.

Buy some Elm/Maple/Ash Strong boxes and put them in your bank slots. They are large capacity (8/12/16 slot) boxes but are quite heavy and they cost a bit (10/40/75 silver). Practice your harvesting skills and learn how to craft. Crafting provides a welcome alternative to exp grinding you will begin to experience past level 18 or so.

I have a 18 crusader/24 carpenter and enjoy crafting much more then adventuring. Do whatever floats your boat.

There are many servers to choose from and I play on Nekutlous. Can't really shed a lot of light on that one but haven't heard any complaints about any server.

Hope this helps!

No PvP servers. However, the first expansion is coming out in September, and it will have PvP arenas.

There are a couple of servers that are supposed to be RP (Antonia Bayle and Lucan D'Lere), but other than that, most servers are the same except for size. (Except for the European time zone servers...Splitpaw is one; I can't remember the others.) As far as I know, Grobb is fine. There are servers with more people, and probably with higher levels as well (since I think some servers are older than Grobb). To see server population, create a character at the time you would normally be playing the game. When it gets to the server select part, all the available servers will be shown with their populations -- light, medium, heavy, or full. Full doesn't mean you can't play on it; it just means tons of people are on that server.

Quests are great; do lots and lots of them, especially in the earlier levels. They often give nice rewards, and they help you find your way around your city and outlying zones.

And by the way, EQ2 doesn't have clans...it has guilds. :)
