Sounds like a few features in console games are being incorporated into these expansions.
- Climb walls: Splinter Cell or SOCOM comes to mind.
- Moveable objects: Baulders Gate comes to mind.
- Scalable level of monsters sounds exactly like Lost Dungeons of Norath for EQ1.

Personally, I am enjoying the many zones and still have lots to explore. I seem to get 4-5 blasted quests everytime I log in! :) (Yea, I know it's called EVERquest) But since I still have many zones to explore, so I won't be going to DoF anytime soon. I may get the Splitpaw Saga since it's scalable solo content. Can't ever loot too much dog spit (canine saliva).

I find that the content is out-pacing my adventuring, and that's a good thing. I don't really want to reach the glass-ceiling of content and become board. On the other hand, there is so much content I feel I have to get to it all.
Curse you, blasted full quest journal! :) I learned in EQ1 that I don't have to buy all the expansions. Especially the ones that I will never reach.

The cost for the expansion is about normal. After a few years they are grouped together and given at a discount.

The cost for the adventure pack seems to have gone up. Wasn't the last one $5? Now the Splitpaw Saga is $8. Will the next expansion be $12? Slow changes are easier to inflict than large drastic changes.

Hey Sony, your links to DoF and SS dot com show "coming soon" pages.

Yay! That's what I thought when I read it, but I loved LDON. I have a group of friends who play EQ2, but we rarely get to play all together. When we used to play EQ1, we would do LDONs whenever we could, because it was our own ready-made dungeon. Now, does that mean Splitpaw dungeons will be instanced? I hope so.

Well, that's not fair. I thought they said adventure packs would always be $5.00...maybe they're trying to make us buy Station passes. But $30.00 for an expansion isn't so bad.

I think the adventure packs are a rip off personally. For what little they give you I feel you should get those zones free with your $15 a month fee. I didn't buy the first one, and I won't buy the second one. As for the expansion I do plan to get it.

I just wonder where it will take place?

Looks like the Desert of Ro... probably North and South and if we're lucky, they'll also include The Oasis of Marr which was always one of my favorite zones in EQ.

taken from the official DoF press release:
Quote:
The salt flats, mesas, spires and dunes in EverQuest II Desert of Flames provide the backdrop for exciting new adventures that will tell the tales of the people and creatures found in the Desert of Ro. Players of all classes can collect new creatures and pit them against each other in special arenas in the newly discovered city of Majā€™Dul. Rather than watching the battle from the sidelines, players become the champion, slinging spells and wielding weapons in a variety of combat scenarios. Player characters can also take their chances against these fearsome creatures, or even challenge other players in battles for fame and glory. For the first time in an MMO, players will be able to scramble up crumbling cliffs in search of treasure and adventure in thrilling new zones all set within this colorful Arabian Nights theme. With new epic encounters designed for levels 45 and up, and the rumor of fearsome twin metallic dragons, there are plenty of exciting new activities for everyone to enjoy in EverQuest II Desert of Flames.

I was a bit surprised at the $7.99 price of the adventure packs. Since they will be putting out quite a few of these a year, this will really add up. It is nice to see that there will be scalable zones in it from 20-50 which will make a lot more players want to buy it.

I thought the Commonlands had part of North ro in it??

It's been a while since I was there so I had to check the maps to be sure, but no, Commonlands doesn't include part of Ro.

The description for Freeport in EQAtlas states: "On the east coast of Antonica, this port city lies at the intersection of the Commonlands and the great Desert of Ro." To me, being an intersection means it divides those two, but that could just be my interpretation.

Since the East Freeport exit to North Ro leads into an expanse of open desert that looks just like the West Freeport exit to East Commonlands, this might be what made you think of it...

East Commonlands does connect to North Ro, but only if you go through the tunnel where Shady Swashbuckler and the LDoN folks have set up camp.

This makes the second expansion, (including the 1st adventure pack), located on the FP side... wonder how all us "good" folk are supposed to get there... Maybe a new boat ride out of TS... I'd hate to have to deal with all that Nek aggro just to adventure there...
