I just went and poked around in my own EQ2 folder and couldn't find anything related to a character chat log. There is a plain text sales log for each char that has a store, so if he bought the items off your trader, look there. Outside of that, unless you are logging and parsing with some program, (like combatstats), I think you may be out of luck on this one.
