Need some advise on the plague. I know that there isn't a cure but there is a temporary treatment for the symptoms. Could someone plese tell me what it is and where I might find it? Also is the blight and the septosemia (sp?) all part of the plague?

I find it very annoying when I am in the middle of a battle and my toon stops to shiver or trow up. A couple of times she has even gotten so dizzy that she has fallen on her keester in the middle of a battle.

Besides the ultimate cure of a high end guild taking out the mob that is spreading it on each server, there are two common cures for the plague but each is temporary.

First, any priest can group with you for long enough to cast "cure Noxious" on your character and purify you. You will then be immune from further infection for about 45 minutes.

Second, in every village, the apothacary NPC sells an anti-venim potion for about 50c that will also cure you and leave you immune for about 45 minutes.

Remember that the desease is spread through proximity so once you're cured, get outdoors and get out of town!

Also be aware that it only affects your character's annimations. You can still swing your weapon and it will not interrupt spell casting.

One final note - you should never have to pay another player to cure you. Cure Noxious is a low level spell that every priest gets and no one should be charging people for a cure.

One thing that my roomate and I have been wondering about...

Does it take some time after exposure to happen? The only times it has ever happened to us was when we were standing still away from others.

I've never noticed any delay between exposure and outbreak. Seems I often get it while standing in the bank and when it happens, BAM everyone turns green and doubles over at the same time. I also seem to contract it when someone infected runs past me while I'm standing in the trade skill instance... Again, there's no delay involved that I can see.

Got the plaque in less then 2 minutes after getting off of IOR. I was running around Graystone finishing the Heritage quest and right before I logged, I turn green and start barfing.

Good thing I am a priest!

I tried to give myself the plague by talking to and being near (read: all over) whomever I saw with it.... I never got it. (Mistmoore server) Then today I got it while standing by myself. It was strange. I tried to use "cure noxious" on myself and it didn't work.

On occasion, I have had to cast a second time to get rid of it. Try casting twice and if it still doesn't go away, just wait the 1.5 hours till it leaves on it's own!

How long it lasts varies according to how high your Disease Resist is btw Smiley: smile

Could infection be related to the rats running around, or even the pets?

I tried to cast "Cure Noxious" 15 times on myself. It gives a message saying it could not remove anything, then says I am cured, but the plague stayed. Maybe I should get better spell versions.

The mob that carries the plague is a lvl 50 raid encounter. I don't know if it's the same mob for every server or not, but the one on Oggok server was, I believe, a vampire (T'Haen maybe?)...think it involved Bloodline Chronicles somehow. Of late, the quest has been bugged, so lots of plague quests were put on hold, but apparently it's been fixed now.

It appears to be a random infection. I was crafting down in the Woodworkers Guild and got infected despite being the only PC in the zone. Also, The NPC's did not appear to be diseased (i.e. green) as best as I could tell.

My guess is that you have a random chance of picking up the plague when you are in a town zone. It only lasts for 1-1/2 hours and doesn't seem to have any effect on your abilities. It doesn't even bother me that much.

You can only catch it from another infected toon or NPC, and it lasts varying amounts of time, depending on how high your disease resist is.

Initially it only lasted 50 mins for me, then I changed some gear and now it lasts just over an hour. Smiley: oyvey

Maybe there's a percent chance you'll get it. I spent some time trying to get the plage when I discovered I had "Cure Noxious" and it took me awhile to get it...
But then again, I was talking to someone when I had it, and he and two NPCs behind him all got it at the same time. I also found that when I browse a merchant's items, then talk to them, they will immediately come down with it.
