How many times have you sent tells to people with LFG on and then you get replies telling you they need to spend 20 minutes to do this, or they don't have enough time to group, etc. I mean come on people don't put LFG on unless you want a group??

Today I was putting a group together and start sending some tells. One of them is in Enchanted Lands and tells me they would love to but they need to activate the portal to Solsek Eye first. This is after sending tells to people who don't even bother to answer, or who are AFK while LFG *rolls*. So then I send a tell to another healer and they say sure they are on the way. So the 5 of us are waiting and waiting, etc. I look and see they are in the harbour in Qeynos, so I figure they are getting a ticket maybe banking. Well time passes and they are in the same zone. I ask if they are OK and they just say "Yup". Now they know we are full minus them and waiting for them to depart. Then I see them in Starcrest for a few minutes then finnally they show up.

Anybody else find it annoying though when your trying to put a group together and people spend 20 minutes before they even head towards you?

Well i know personnally from my experience i sometimes plan to play for 2 or 3 hour. so i put my lfg tag on and start clearing unimportant easy soloable quest. Then 2 hour and 55 minutes later i get a tell for a group, most of the time i even forgot i have the tag on.

The real problem is .... too many quest, too much easy accessible solo content = few groups.

EQ2 dosent have the community EQ had, the system they tried to imput to satisfy the mass have killed whats EQ had best over other rpg. They had a community, now its just a ton of strangers running around.

There has to be some middle ground.

EQ1:
1. Put up LFG and if you are a desirable class or get lucky, you get a group. Otherwise, sit and wait until you get a group, because you sure as hell can't solo (unless you are one of a small number of classes).
2. Get to group, and if the group doesn't fall apart shortly after you get there, group for 2 or 3 hours. Anything less than 2 hours and you are considered a complete jerk for "pass-by" playing.
3. You decide its time to leave, and you start looking for a replacement. Usually, if you are a good person, you start looking 30 minutes or so before you have to go.
4. If you are the healer or the tank, and you don't find the replacement, you have just destroyed the group. Congrats!

EQ2:
1. Go solo some quests.
2. Go solo a couple of nameds.
3. Go solo some more quests.
4. Hook up with 1 or 2 people for 10 minutes to kill 1 mob you all need.
5. Go solo more content.

There has to be some middle ground where there are advantages to grouping but soloing is a fun way to play as well.

I solo or duo almost exlusively anymore in EQ2. In EQ1, I always played healers, and could always get a group, but the time commitment was insane. EQ2 has that part down, where you group up for 1 mob or some specific objective and then log out.

I've only had 1 four hour group so far in EQ2, and that was to kill everling, because nobody knew the quest and we had to figure it out as we went along. Other than that the longest non-guild group I've had was probably 15 minutes.

Aye, but the fact is everquest 1 is 5 years old now and most people still playing now are the hardcore people.

In the 2-3 first years of EQ, time commitment wasnt really that bad, and replacement was pretty much easy to get. I know myself that i did hit 50 when it was the limit and group werent as super specialized as they are now. Also the difference between Uber and normal level 50 was minimal.

Now, EQ1 still have a community but there is not enough player base to sustain the vastness of the game anymore. and the difference between a recent 65+ warrior and a 2-3 years old 65+ warrior is insane.
Wehn you have same level of another warrior and you have 7000hp and lets say 1500ac when he as 14000hp and 2600ac, well you can see youll never get anygroup. And that not to mention the 14k war prolly regen faster have better skills do more dps etc because of the 5 trillion different aa he already as that you dont :)

But EQ1 had that middle ground when it was just antonica, faydwer and odus.
it got out of hand after about the fourth expansion.

I never have these problems - I only group with guildmates.

But EQ2 has a different culture than EQ1 did.. First and foremost this game is more centered around quests... quests that you can't just get the turn in item in if you join a group hunting them. In EQ1 you spent more time grinding even at lower levels, using quests to only supplement your experience. Where in EQ2 you do quests as a primary form of experience (and loot).

Now this becomes a problem because people are all at different levels for quests. and you can't share your quests with your groupmates.

That I think would be the biggest "plus" to the game, is if you could share your quests with your group mates.

Now that would be a good idea to have maybe not all quest sharable but the grinding ones. So lets say i join you and you are on a kill 10 deer quest, we share i get the quest, counts go back lets say to 0 and we can do it together and both receive reward without me having to go grab it in the city.

I like the idea

I guess I lucked up... I started grouping with some people when I hit around lvl 16ish on my Druid/Fury and we pretty much all group together and grow together. They're on more than I am but they catch me up and help me get shared quests so we can continue our group. We're comprised of a few guildies plus some people from other guilds as well.

Even on my alts, I don't seem to have too much trouble finding people to group with, though and most of the time I group with those same people again, who introduce me to others that THEY regularly group with. I don't understand the problem people are having finding groups??

Think of all the people that you won't ever group with. Those are probably the one that complain that they can never get a group. Most of the time it has nothing to do with the class or the game. It is the player's own fault. Helping others completing quest etc even though you get nothing goes a long way in getting group. People will remember you. Most people have tendency to invite people they have grouped with before over a complete stranger. If all else fails, make your own group..:)

I have SO not had this "finding a group" problem in EQ2. There's always someone willing to help out whack a named. I no sooner zone in then I have people asking me if I'm alone or if I want to group. If I'm going to be on for a while, I'll usually group with them, but I let them know beforehand how long I plan to be on, or what I'm trying to accomplish. If I'm only on for a minute, I politely tell them no thank you, I am only here for a few minutes. I don't think it is fair of me to join a group when I am only going to do a single task then ditch on them.

I do not, however, group with people who send me blind invites. I find that rude. At least ask me in tell or even in say if I'd like to join you.

Rude of someone to invite you when you want to be invited? Hmm...

If someone is looking for only a certain group, then they should announce it in /ooc. I believe there is an update to the LFG window coming that will include a line of text. That way you can indicate certain types of groups you're looking for.

Remember your LFG tag is broadcast throughout the server. I frequently get invites to groups in different zones, just because I fit their needs for level and DPS. And if they can wait the sometimes 10 minutes it takes to run across several zones, then all is well. :)

Healers seem to get invited the quickest, as they are such a staple in a group taking on hard mobs. However to those healers that interrogate the leader before considering - I have no time for them.

Too many times a prospective healer will ask a flurry of questions:
- Full group? If not, forget it.
- Main Tank? If not, forget it.
- Specific Zone that I want? If not, forget it.

Too many healers are becoming selective in the groups because they are tired of "bad groups" or "exp debt". Well, my friend, welcome to the life that everyone else lives. Everyone else has to go through the same pains, but do not have the luxury of being selective. If you find a group is bad after you join, then leave just like everyone else would. But you won't know until you join, will you?

If I am putting a group together and get an attitude like that from a healer, I'll look for someone else immediately.

Enjoy your selective solo time healer-friend. All of it.

I find getting a good group is difficult in EQ2. Guilds seem like a good option, but I'm not high level yet, and have a full-time job and GF, so I only log on 2-3 times a week during a bad week. Guilds want so much time, and most don't seem interested in anyone below lvl 30.

LFG never seems to be as useful as it should be. The only place it seemed to work was the Isle of Refuge. Ever since, I don't see anyone near my lvl on LFG, and almost never get invites. The last invite I got, it was someone trying to start a guild. Weird way to start a guild, messaging complete strangers you've never grouped with to begin a guild for the hell of it. The time before that, the group I was with couldn't pull off HOs (watched more then a few huge HOs just fizzle out because no one hit the last part), and I ended up getting killed twice because the fighter couldn't hold agro, and the healer was busy blasting mobs instead of healing. Fun. Wish I could find a good group who knew how to play their classes.

Still, I like how you can share quests, and see what quests are shared among the group. Nice feature. It's cool being in a group and completing quests simultaneously. I've only gotten to do it on the isle, though :(

I imagine it'll be easier when I get to higher levels, just lonely doing all these quests alone. What's the fun of flexing and taunting mobs if I have no audience? And some of the quests, you really need help. I don't want to have to wait till things con grey to me to finish a quest, but if you can't find a group, what do you do?

Hoping to find a group to help with the betrayl quest for my Troll, so he can be one of the only Troll Illusionists in the big Q. At this rate, my prospects look bleak...
