Spell/skill upgrades - when?Follow

#1 Apr 26 2005 at 4:47 PM Rating: Decent
Hey everyone. Thanks for the help with my bag question. Now I have another!

It's obvious one can upgrade skills (apprentice 2, 3, etc). Is there a level cap on this of any kind? Such as "You must be Level 18 to become Adept 1" or something.

Or is it just a situation of being able to use whatever your money can buy?

There are no restrictions, (that I know of), on spell/skill upgrades... If you have recieved the spell, you can scribe the upgrades.

Also, you don't have to go in any order or include any steps you don't wish to. You can go from app 1 straight to master if you can afford the scoll!

There are 2 ways that your spells upgrade. Firstly as you level, most spells/skills get replaced by better ones of the same type that replace them. Secondly by upgrading them through the apprentice, adept, master series.

If you want to get into the nitty-gritty of it all, hopefully you can find detailed info for your class somewhere.

It's not worth spending big money to upgrade every single spell as some of them will be replaced in a few levels and others only give small added benefits in progressing from App 4 to Adept 1 (for example).

You should take all spells/skills to at least App 3/4 though.

Well, as a mage who became a summoner and intends upon becoming a necromancer, what advice can you give as to which spells will become outdated by later versions? Obviously I am not going to waste money upgrading my Tellurian, because once I become a necromancer I should get better pets in the form of undead. Right?

But what about other spells?

I've never played a finger wiggler so I can't help you there but you should be able to find the data on the SOE site or on one of the dedicated class sites...

One thing to keep in mind, is if you have friends and ever plan on mentoring them or mentoring in general, you should keep your lower level skills up to date, since when you drop down, you lose use of your previous skills.

Here's a good site for Summoners. Lots of forums with spell data and upgrade info.

When selecting upgrades, use your own experience to help decide. If you use a spell continuously, think about a serious upgrade. If you never use a spell, then lower apps is fine.

As a Summoner/Necro, you will want the best possible pet you can afford, Adept 1 or Adept 3. You will also want to upgrade your DoT's, especially those with mitigation effects. Your main damage will come from your pet and your DoT's. Also remember that your INT directly affcts your power pool and spell damage.

Good Luck!

Hmm. I checked last night and didn't find much for sale, with regards to spell upgrades. I guess either the market on my server is such that they get bought quickly, or nobody's making them.

Good thing I'm geared up to be a scholar/sage! Looks like I'll be able to make a wee little fortune. Can't wait to actually get tradeskill buffs...it's friggin insane trying to make something Pristine right now. Ugh. Apparently I get them at tradeskill level 10 though, so that's good. I'm almost there.
