Larger bags?Follow

Hey everyone.

I'm finding it's tough to do a big harvesting spree when I've got such small bags! My bank won't hold much with them so small, my vault won't hold much, and I can't carry a whole lot either.

Right now I have two 6-slot rucksacks (6lb each!!) and four 4-slot small bags (which are weightless, apparently) on my person, and two 4-slot small bags in my vault.

I could buy more of the 6 slot rucksacks, but they're quite heavy, and my character is a high elf summoner, so he's not altogether brawny. Anyone have a suggestion for some inexpensive lightweight 6-slot bags? Or some cheap 8 slot bags in general (since if they're heavy I can always bank those ones)?

I've got about 50 silver, which isn't alot, but money doesn't seem nearly as tough to get in this as it was in the original EQ, so I'm not worried if I spend every nickel I've got. Being able to carry more stuff is worth it.

PS: Being a high elf means I'm in Qeynos. I am level 11, and intend to defect to Freeport once I'm able. Dunno if this is relevant to bags or not, so I thought I'd mention it just in case.

My first suggestion would be to quest for every bag you can find. There are a bunch of bag quests for the good side listed here in the quest section. Bootstrutters, (long quest - 10 slot bag reward), is a great one and there is also one for an 8 slot bag in Nettleville that is dead simple to get! Beyond that, there are a bunch of 4 slot bag quests that are simple to run and all will help you gain personal inventory storage space.

There is also a huge guest bag that is the result of a collection quest for each tier from tier two, (Antonica), on up. The Antonica quest is for 6 or 7 Antonican leaves and results in a 20 slot bag... and that's only the tier two version, they get bigger every tier!

For your bank slots, you should work on getting/buying boxes rather than bags. Boxes tend to have more slots per tier but are way too heavy to be carried into combat!

PS - don't forget, you can use the 4 "shared" bank slots and the two slots in your room vault for storage as well. You should get the biggest boxes you can afford for six slots too.

I hadn't thought about boxes as an option. Do I buy them from the same vendors I get furniture from?

Sorry if I sound like "der uber newb" but I just got EQ2 a couple days ago. Played EQ1 though, and WoW, so I'm not unfamiliar with the way an MMO works. Just new to EQ2 is all.

How do I search specifically for quests that result in a container as a reward, using the quest search here? Obviously if I can do some simple quests and get even 4 slot bags out of it, that's a bargain, I can use them in my bank until I get something better later on.

I do know about the slots in my home and the shared slots, too. I'm trying to limit the slots in my home to things that I am trying to sell, since although many zones have a bank I can visit, only one has my house...which makes it tough to get to those items if I'm some distance away.

Thanks for your help, and thanks ahead of time for possible answers to these questions too.

I have an Erudite Conjurer. All my bags are 8-slot or above. And when they are all full, I hardly even tip over half my max weight allowance.

So worry not about the weight of the bag, they can carry a lot and so can you! :)

I was in your same condition at that level. Not a gold to my name, and all I had were tiny pouches. Over time you'll get more money and bigger and better bags.

You can buy boxes (and bags) from other players who tradeskill. You can get them from a broker in a tradeskill instance or somewhere in your city. (Sorry, never visited that one myself.)

Speaking of which, you might want to consider making your own bags. If you harvest your own materials they would cost you only some time and 20 - 30 coppers each, and at level 5 Artisan you can make 6 slot bags and (I think) 12 slot boxes. Bigger if you're lucky enough to get a rare harvest item. If you go on to outfitter and tailor, or craftsman and carpenter (?) the bags and boxes, respectively, get bigger.

I went the outfitter route and equipped myself and all my bank slots with 6 slot backpacks at 5 and 8 slot at level 15. They sell pretty well to other players too.

Good advice! I will look into making my own bags and boxes. I can use the bags to replace my 4-slot ones, and the boxes would be absolutely awesome in the bank and vault. Just a matter of doing some gathering tonight, I suppose.

I checked out the quest for the 20 slot bag - won't be able to do that one for awhile, I bet.

I'd love to wait to do it all until I get transferred to Freeport, but my understanding is that it's a long quest to do that...so I figure I will do it now, so that I'm well-prepared for the quest.

It will take you some time but very little coin to create your own elm stronghold boxes (or maple stronghold boxes). Elm s.b.'s are 8 slot, maple are 12 slot. I'd suggest filling your bank with these for maximum slot capacity.
Due to encumbrance, don't try to carry more than 2 or 3 at a time from the tradeskill instance to the bank though... you'll be struttin mighty slow LOL (this is what I did for my main character and I don't regret it one bit... will be replacing all my current 8 slot elm s.b.'s with maple ones soon for the 4 extra slots per container and passing my elm s.b.'s on to my alts Smiley: grin)

Good luck!
