I left EQ2 back in early Feb. because of several things.

a) very buggy.

b) lack of armor designs and neat cool weapons, everything was so generic.

c) ...no Iksar scale patterns *cries*

d) lack of solo content. I like a good balance of solo and grouping when I play a game.

e) money making. I used to be a Harvester and sold my stuff on my merchant boards, but of course then they changed the Wholesale dealer quests and that was no longer a way to make cash. I hate crafting with a passion as deep as the pits of hell. I don't even craft in WoW (I just skin actually) and have made a decent enough amount to keep up my armor and get my mount at level 40. What ways BESIDES crafting are there to make halfway decent money? if Crafting is the only way then ...ew. Some of us don't like to sit there at a crafting table for 10 hours a day ^^;; I've got ADHD and that just *doesn't* work for me.

f) RP severs. Is there still a huge lack of RP going on there?

g) How's the lag now? Back in Feb it was horrible, even with my computer which is built pretty nicely for gaming.

oh I forgot to ask, is their billing system finally straightened out? I got billed twice for one month before I cancelled my account, and several times it "rejected" my credit/debit card (...which is nuts, because I had plenty in my bank account) and I finally got that squared away with them.

Why I'm asking this is because I always said IF SOE fixed EQ2 I would love to come back. WoW is a great game, I love it, but I wanted to give EQ2 a second shot if they're fixing their mistakes or revamping some things.

Thanks in advance for the answers.

I also came back from a break in late january. They fixed many important bugs, theres alot more solo content also. As for making money, havent looked into it yet, most of my armor comes from quest.
Now it will never be WoW since WoW is just a big scaled diablo. If you want to play a game that as alot of easy solo content stay there, if you want a game with harder solo content come to eq2 again, youll get the challenge here. Though i must say EQ2 is aimed for grouping and is much more fun when grouping, hear you can solo at any level up to 50, and they did change alot of group mobs to solo mobs recently.

As for rping, i play on antonya bayle, usually if you rp in a group people try to follow you up, i am sure there are hardcore rp guild in there but i havent found any. Community isnt as well formed as EQ1 yet, that because of the huge solo content at lower level people tend to do their own business which is the bigest mistake sony made imo. Less solo content makes for great community.

The harvesting quests have not changed since I started playing in early Feb. The tier 1 pays 3 silver, t2 12 silver, t3 58ish silver, t4 1 gold, and t5 1 gold 65ish silver (numbers are not exact but close)

Lag wise I never have much of a problem. Solo content they have added alot of solo mobs to various zones, however t5 zones are still not very solo friendly IMO.

Armor designs do seem to be about the same, and as far as I know iksars are no different.

There is also off-line selling now, however it has made alot of items value go down (harvested items included). I can't really say on the RP, I never got much into that.

Alot of people are getting upset with SOE over the Station Exchange. You might want to look at that topic.

Eh, less solo content does not always make for a great community, go play FFXI. Not a great community. I'm on Cenarion Circle in WoW which is an RP sever, the community there is VERY tight, with LOTS of RP going on, great guilds, despite the fact that most people solo for exp. Unfortunately that's one of things that drove me from EQ2 on Lucan D'Lere... RP server and it seemed that no one was ever interested in rping, I might go to the official boards and ask how much that has changed.

Right now I'm taking a break from WoW because I'm starting a new job etc etc and eventually was thinking of trying EQ2 again before I reactivate my WoW account IF things have gotten a little less generic and a bit more interesting.

As for the Harvesting, I recall (this might have changed, I hope it has since it was the way I made money because I despise crafting) for a stack of tier one you'd get anywhere from 3copper -12 copper. Tier 2 was maybe 5 silver. Tier 3 was 75 silver. That is before the Harvesting Wholesaler quests were changed so maybe it leveled itself out.

I guess I'll go over to the official forums and see if I can find any more specifics on this sort of thing.

They just recently added some more solo content, in a way. The overland zones (like Antonica, Commonlands, etc.) were previously full of grouped mobs. Apparently, they've changed many of these groups to solo mobs. The idea is that if you want to group, you should go into the dungeon zones, where there are still lots of grouped mobs. Also, this is intended to make it easier for people to solo many quests.

Actually, I've heard several people say that crafting is not at all the best way to make money. The best way is to go fight, sell the junk to vendors, and sell the good stuff on the broker. Offline selling makes it much easier to do this (though it also saturates the market; bit of a trade-off there). Harvesting quests are still good, though not as easy as they were pre-nerf. I don't know if this happened before you left or not, but recently they changed many quests to give more money as reward. Newbie quests in particular give much more cash than they did previously.

a) I never really had a problem with bugs (or lag) but I tend to be behind the curve a bit, and I'm not the first one to reach level X, start quest Y or make item Z.

b) Player made armor and weapons made from rare harvest items have gotten a graphics overhaul - some of them are really nice.

c) I don't know. Seems like if the Kitties get to choose a pattern, the lizards should be able to as well.

d) Lots more solo content. Mobs, quests and instances.

e) People seem to be selling collection items - ants, spiders, bones, shards, mastery quest body parts, etc. - for quite a bit.

f) No idea.

g) I haven't noticed any lag for a while now. Griffin rides look way better.

I left at the same time as you and came back on the 13th. Restarted my shaman and he's at 17 now.

Solo content is much improved, there's always something out there for you to kill solo. At the moment I'm expecting to solo my shaman and nothing more - considering how broke the mystic class is reportedly in groups why the heck not.

I'm able to make money doing off-line selling with the house vault. Stick some boxes in there, harvest up, and sell what you can along with any good loot that drops. I've never had any issues with lag. It's locked up on me a single time.
