this is a bit of a goodbye to the EQ2 community...

In light of station exchange and what it means to EQ2 and indeed the future of MMO's overall.. it's simply not something I can support with my money.

I realize that for many it's "ok as long as it's not on my server"..

but it's not ok, it creates a precedent that says "cheating is OK as long as we get our cut of the profits.. and hey we'll cut you in too through sales, just accept it since it's happening anyway."

this just strikes a moral chord in me that is naseuating..

for those of you staying, I truly hope EQ2 isn't destroyed by this, but real money will equate to real greed.. and I don't like that.. Add in the fact that SOE themselves are saying "buyers are ok" when for the longest time "buyers" were not.. all because they found a strong enough legal stand to make it happen.. and discovered that the secondary market can be pretty lucrative..

sorry.. I can't send my money to such a company..

good luck to you all if you're staying with EQ2.... but I can't stay with SOE.

Like I said in the other thread as long as they keep this crap off my server I don't care. I think this does go to show what kind of company SOE is though.

Sorry to see you go, DIS. I hope you find a good place to play, where ever that may be. I fully understand your moral dilema.

It's obvious SOE is jumping the gravy train. I wish they hadn't, and I certainly don't condone their actions. However I do enjoy the game, what is presented to me, and the environment. I figure I'm getting my $17.99 a month worth of entertainment.

If SE turns into a large ugly beast that turns the economy into a nightmare, I may reconsider. If I cannot buy any spell upgrades because they are ultra-priced, and therefore cannot adventure, then I will be finished with the game.

Games using RL cash are not new, Project Entropia has been doing it for a while. Don't know to what success, though.

While I disagree with the Station Exchange and of buying and selling in game items with real money, in general, you'll have to drag me kicking and screaming from my computer before I will quit EQ2. I love EQ2, to me, it is the best MMORPG on the market and no matter that SOE makes good decisions and bad ones, I will continue to play.

When I see another character in game, I cannot tell if that player earned his gear or if he bought it with real cash. It rarely even crosses my mind or even affects my gameplay. It is something that, as personal choice I don't participate it, but otherwise does not directly affect my gameplay experience.

I continue to be confounded by the players who post messages saying they are fed up and are leaving for one reason or another. I can only speculate that they do not love the game as much as I do, because until an SOE technician presses the power button on the game servers for EQ2 for the last time, and leaves me staring at a blank screen, I will continue to play the game I love.

I wish you the best in whatever choices you decide to make, you are a wonderful lady and though sometimes I disagree with your posts, I (generally) respect the thought and passion you put into them. Sadly, I will never understand your decision to leave (along with all the others), but good luck nonetheless!

Smiley: oyvey Don't leave Iani!

Read my ideas that I posted on the thread : Exchange servers...decent, and tell me if any of those changes would make a difference to your decision if they were implemented

I've enjoyed your contribution to the posts here and I admire/ agree with your moral fabric regarding the situation, but if they have to do this there HAS to be a way to make it tolerable for those of us who don't want to compete with the RL money peeps... Read my post on the other thread and tell me what you think about that. I hate to think of you leaving EQ2 Smiley: frown
