Spell UpgradesFollow

How do I, as a summoner, research or find spell upgrades? Are most just buyable in stores or what? I haven't seen much info on them yet. Or do they just upgrade with levels?

You have 3 options:

1. Craft your own, something i know very little about im afraid.
2. Pick up from mobs when fighting. Best in groups as harder mobs drop better loot.
3. Buy from market. Best way if you dont take path 1 above. upgrade from app 1 to app iv or adept 1 if you can - app ii and iii arent worth the cost. Dont pay too much for something either, there will always be another one, probably cheaper, in a few days. Look to pay 20s-60s for app iv and 50s-2g for adept i, depending on the skill level.

Crafting your own is not a good solution unless you truely want your artisan class to be a sage. Granted any artisan has a chance to make app4 spells up to lvl 9, but by the time you make the subcombines your chances of a app4 are slim to none. More then likely you will just end up spending forever making the subcombines for the ink, etc and end up with a app2. The price can vary depending on which server your on. On Grobb I hardly ever see any app4 spells for under 60 silver, even the newbie ones. I have also found lower level adept spells seem to cost more then the higher level ones (I guess less drop, not sure)

Just watch the broker and see what you can find. It is usually pointless to upgrade to the app2 spells sold by npc vendors.

If you select Sage as your Artisan class, you will be able to make spells easily.

I did that with an alt and planned to make all my own spells. I quickly realized my main was so much higher level than my artisan, it would take a significant amount of time and effort to level up my Sage high enough to support my Conjurer.

So I just buy all my spell upgrades from the broker. Some deals are good, others make me wait for better prices.

In hindsight, I wish I had of selected Provisioner, as I find that I always need good food and drink. A lower level Provisioner can make fairly good items.

Recommendation: If you will become a Conjurer, and you get your level 24 Tellurian Soldier pet, get the Adept 1 (1g-2g) or Adept 3 (42g-75g) upgrade. You will use this pet for a long time.

I'm 35 and use Adept 1 Tellurian Soldier, a level 24 spell. If I could afford the Adept 3 upgrade, I would. But I'll get a new pet at 38 (Tellurian Veteren) and I'll immediately buy an Adept upgrade. SO I'll wait for that. The other pets are "caster" pets and only good in group situations.

Something I noticed about the various pet types. I was in a RE group once and at the time I had the adept 2 freebie lvl 30 fire pet, adept 3 tellurian soldier, and adept 1 air pet. Somebody in the group had once of those DPS programs and I tried various pets out with it. I actually found the adept 3 soldier not only is the obvious tank pet, but that it also did more DPS then the fire or air pet. Being adept 3 obviously helped, but still Id say even if it was adept 1 it would have been close to the same. The fire and air pet did about the same DPS. So in conclusion I see absolutely no use for the fire or air pets.

I am not to the point that I use the tellurian veteran adept 1. I am hopeing to get it upgraded to adept 3 though, that is one spell that makes a huge difference.

The Fire Pet has a group buff, I believe it's a proc.

Even with an Adept 1 upgrade, the Air pet died very quickly - that was the last time I used it.

Once parsers scrub the numbers and databases are built, we will know the exact HP, AC, DMG and spells of all pets. Until then, I'll stick to the Earth pet.

Here's a good site for summoners. Lot's of discussion and parser info.
