Need Help becoming a FuryFollow

#1 Apr 22 2005 at 2:05 AM Rating: Decent
I finally decided on what I wanted (Fury). So I went to see Mizzog in north Freeport and was then zoned to the wailing caves to kill the wolf guy (lvl 18). My problem is that he happens to be guarded by two lvl 23's and a lvl 25. I can not defeat all of them at once by myself.

I asked a group I joined to help and was told that the class progression quests have to be soloed. So basicly they told me if I couldn't defeat them myself I was SOL. Is this true? Or was I totally lied too? If its true how the hell am i suppost to defeat that many high lvls all by myself?
I might almost be lvl 20 but I'm the biggest newbie ever. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

They were right...your instanced class quest zones are meant to be soloed.
Now, I haven't done the FP fury quest yet (actually, I intend to soon), but one of my friends did the FP warden quest. Her instanced zone had a mob she was supposed to kill, and some wolves...which she was definitely not supposed to kill, being a druid and thus a protector of nature. When you say your lvl 18 guy is "guarded" by some others, does that mean they try to attack you if you attack the lvl 18 mob? Or is it possible that they are animals that you're not supposed to kill?

You just need to kill the Wolfmaster. The other NPCs will not attack you during the instanced. After you kill the Wolfmaster, turn around and double click the door. You will zone directly in front of Mizzog. Hope this clarifies everything - even though you are going Fury (Sigh). :)

Wooeee I just turned druid and I did not know I am not supposed to kill wolves. I never did druid before. I play EQ but I am a Pally in that game. So now I want to be a fury. Never was a healer, always a tank. Will be new for me. So being a defender of nature--what do I kill? All things are nature's out there. Deer, sparrow hawks, badgers, I am in a dilemma.
I am a level 11 now. I am newbie in this game. I could be a fury or a warden I think. I am going to have to think a long time on which. Any suggestions? On either sub class?

As a general rule, you can kill wolves/other nature things in this game, as far as I know. They haven't done a whole lot with faction yet. However, in that one specific Freeport warden-subclass quest, you aren't supposed to kill the wolves.

Most class/subclass quests (the ones that change your class or subclass) have instanced zones where you have to behave a little more like the class you want to become. Summoners kill elementals, druids don't kill wolves, rogues sneak around and steal things, etc. But the rest of the game isn't much like that.

According to general description, wardens are supposed to be the better of the two druids at healing, and furies are supposed to be better at offensive spells. Of course, they can each do both. You probably should look up spell lists to find which of the two you like better, if you haven't already.

There is no penalty that I know of for killing animals in EQ2.

I play both a ranger and a warden and in each case, maintaining the "balance of nature" by killing animals is a fact of life! Just last night, I was soloing my warden in T-Steppes by carrying out a major smack-down on lots and lots of bear and antelope. Not to mention countless snakes, crabs, hawks and any beetles that happened across my path.

Even in EQ, the only faction hits you took as a druid or ranger were based on killing "protected" animals in specific zones. Anything outside those locations was always fair game!

I completed the solo instance last weekend. The guards will attack you so stay back at the door. You must use "smite" to remove the barricades from the wolves. Nothing fancy. They will then attack the guards who have been mistreating them while you take out the Wolfmaster. Your task is complete when the wolfmaster is dead so leave.

Awesome, I will be doing this soon after I finish up my Betrayal quest from Freeport to Qeynos, still need 397 gnolls :(. I like it so far, the fury seems better suited for me because I like being a offensive based character and at the same time I can drop back to healing duties if the situation requires it.

I am sure you already completed the Skill Quest but for future references make sure all of your skills are at least Apprentice II or Adept I. And you can use a distance attack to set aggro on the mob. As a druid I always hit them with weakness that way I don't waste a damage spell and can still hit my HO's. Was the same way with my Ranger, I had to sneak by 4 mobs to get to a room where I had to kill a Dark Elf. They kept spotting me until I upgraded my sneak and hunt spells. They can be hard but they are do-able.
