Interview on Station ExchangeFollow

#27 Apr 24 2005 at 1:00 AM Rating: Decent
Well, he seemed to answer the way I'd expect. I am still don't expect it to work anything like they want. There will be huge problems because of it.

Thanks a bunch for using my questions!! Or at least variants on them. =) And way to hammer into him, old school technique. lol Let him think its all going well, then bam, over and over pounding away at the same 3 topics over 4-6 questions seeing if he'll give an inch. heehee

Thanks Alla, I feel a little better about the situation now.

However my overall feeling is still that, this step, for the first time, gives approval to the use of RL cash in online games and represents a major fork in the road for gaming in general, not just EQ2.

In EQ2 they may well manage to contain and control the situation but the implications for gaming in the future are huge.

I'm not a hardcore gamer by any means. I do love EQ2 and my "life" in Norrath... But I do not and can not agree with this Station Exchange business. Since all this talk started i chose not to log in; not until I gathered more information. Now that I have it, my decision is clear.

For anyone to say it is not affecting the other servers is nuts. I've logged on several times this weekend and saw in every large zone people chatting about it... chatting, cursing, laughing, etc. Instead of hearing players talk about game events and sometimes RL events, I am hearing them talk nonstop about stationexchange.

I've loved my time in EQ2. I love the game.
I love hopping back into EQ from time to time. And SWG.

My bf brought me tissues this morning while I spoke with my guild about my decision (aww ain't he sweet! lol).

I've cancelled my StationAccess.

I am now looking into other gaming options... Bf is still trying to convince me to give WoW a chance since he owns it. Perhaps I'll see some of you there. If not, perhaps another realm. Any and all are welcome to email and perhaps find a meeting point. rainysubstitute@hotmail.com

And thanks, Alla, for the interview. It was the extra push I needed. :)

So... they backed off the stance regarding conversion of existing servers for Station Exchange.

I suppose time will tell how this will affect EQ2 as a whole.

For now I'm just happy that I won't have to see this on Mistmoore (at least any time soon). Here's to hoping they stand firm on their stance to keep Station Exchange off existing servers! And here's to you, for interviewing SOE and posing the burning questions that we have had regarding Station Exchange.

/full curtsey
