Earning Status Points Outside of a GuildFollow

#1 Apr 19 2005 at 12:31 AM Rating: Good
Something interesting about Status Points. The general consensus is that a character must be in a guild to earn status points, but according to the in game help menu, it lists status points SEPERATELY from guild status points. Here's what it has to say:

"You will earn status points by performing services for your home city. These services are just like quests; however, completeing the quest will grant you an award in status points. Status points can be spent on special items available from your home city, such as mounts. Status points can also be used to enhance your guild, if you are part of one, increasing it's level by contributing to it's guild status points."

This message clearly implies that a character can earn status points regardless if he is in a guild, yet everything I have heard is to the contrary. So this means one of several things:

1. The help menu is wrong, outdated, or misworded.

or

2. Players can earn status points outside of a guild, but for some reason, I have not seen anyone talk about it, on any forum or in game.

Any thoughts on this, anyone?

Well I can tell you that before I was in a guild I could not get anyone to give me a city task or writ. But now that I have joined a guild I have gotten two of them. I heard that you did not have to be in a guild to get them, but good luck on finded them if you dont. I spoke to Caretaker Noggifzzeoajkfd and someone else like 3 diff lvls to try and get the quest, still no luck. But as soon as I joined Guild, boom, got the quest.

You can only earn status points if you're in a guild so I guess the help menu is worded too vaguely.

I disagree. The text referenced states that status points can be earned. Additionally they can be earned for the guild.

I see that as two separate points, allowing those not in a guild to get status points.

City Tasks/Writs give you status and can only be done by guilds. For those not in a guild, they can do Heritage Quests.

I finished the Shiny Brass Halbred quest last night and got about 40,000 status points, [edit added] and got about 1,000 for the guild which equated to a full yellow bubble (we're level 11).

Status points would be of no value to anyone outside a guild because the items to buy are unlocked on the City Merchant as your guild levels up. Unguilded people only ever see a torch for sale.

If that was the case, then how come I still only see a torch for sell and yet I am in a guild???

Because your guild isn't high enough level yet to unlock any items for sale Smiley: smile

So what lvl does your guild have to be to be able to see these items? My guild is lvl 12.

Only Patrons can see the items on City Merchants but all guild members can buy from the Faction Merchants.

Faction merchants are typically located near their corresponding writ givers. They can be found in the following locations:

Qeynos
1. The Qeynos Guard: Merchant Aldermun - up the first set of palace stairs, then off to the right of the stairs in a cubbyhole.
2. The Concordium: Merchant Shinolio - first floor of the mage tower flanked by a flying carpet.
3. The Tunarian Alliance: Merchant Trillium - up on the Arbos tree platform.
4. The Celestial Watch: Merchant Meredeth - inside the Temple of Life, flanked by two spirit steeds.
5. The Ironforge Exchange: ? (presumably inside the Ironforge Exchange behind the estate - currently there is only one NPC there that is neither a writ giver nor a faction merchant)

City Merchants as follows:

1. Qeynos Harbor: City Merchant Rabbleson – SE side of the archways that lead to the docks.
2. South Qeynos: City Merchant Jowling – second story of The Herb Jar (vial symbol on the map)
3. North Qeynos: City Merchant Tatterhorn – inside the armor shop, Call to Arms.
4. Eldarr Grove: City Merchant Mirthmire - inside Antonica's House of Pottery (bow & arrow symbol on the map)
