Under the health and power bars, there is a light blue bubble bar... what does that indicate? My bf doesn't even know, and he played EQ1 for four yrs attaining a lvl of mid to high 60s monk! Can someone please indulge me? Thanks

Some skills/spells require concentration to cast, different spells have different levels of concentration. You have 5 slots available and can activate as many conc spells totalling upto 5 in value.

For example, my ranger has Blade Flurry (conc 3) and Steady Aim (conc 2).

Does this mean that the light blue bar indicates your current capacity for concentration/ ability to cast a number of spells at that time? Thanks for the insight :)

Yes. but not for all spells, just ones that require concentration to cast

And it only ever has 5 slots. So later on you have to pick and choose your buffs. Although that is typiccally not hard as you use the latest spell you have, unless your a bard =)

Can you toggle these buffs/spells? Or do you have to permanently choose your five selected? (surely you can choose five different ones at different times?)

Yes, you can turn off spells by right clicking the icons in your maintained spells window. If you need to change up buffs.

Basically a small set of your buffs have the phrase "Concentration: " and then a number. This tells you how many concentration points it costs.

You get to use up to 5.

Some cost 1, some 2, some even 3.

Sometimes its better to cast 2 single conc buffs instead of one double conc buff if you see what I mean. You have to evaluate what you need.

I have one lineup for adventuring, one for tradeskilling.

Now, lets say you want to switch to a different buff. You can't just cancel that buff on yourself (this is if you are in a group), so don't cancel on the right side of the screen.

You have to cancel the buff on everyone, so use the left side of the screen. I had trouble with this, so thought I'd pass that on. You cancel on yourself and you don't get your concentration freed up, and you wonder why :)

Good luck!

And your bf doesn't know about it because it wasn't in EQ1.

Yeah, rangers kinda get hosed here since everything we do takes multiple points of concentration. At lvl 21, my warden already has 6 different spells that use concentration and none of them require more than a single point. Does that mean that druids are better thinkers??? Or maybe that rangers are just more scatter brained...

BTW - if you hover your mouse pointer over each of the light blue bubbles, they will tell you which effect they are for. You might even be able to right click cancel them from there... I'll have to try that out...

Oooh! Oooh!

May I also ask a stupid question?

I can just equip a bow and stack of arrows right? Or is there a certain thing I have to do?

Yes I know, but all the printed materials about this game seem to be VERY confusing to me. (Yes, maybe it's just me)

Yes I hit enter too soon. ><

Heyyyyy... you calling my question stupid? LOL

Not nitpicking, but ignorance and stupidity have different connotations... ignorant means you havent been educated on it yet, stupidity is, well... perhaps lacking the mental capacity to grasp the concept.

So... I'd stick with the word 'ignorant'. Anyhow, I'm not offended, just razzin ya (poke poke) Smiley: grin

For the record Sasha, your bf didn't know what concentration was because they didn't have it in EQ1. :)

Depends. Some classes can equip bow and arrows, others can't.

What class are you, and what level?

I figured it out. I am stupid, and I got a handle on the ranged weapons too. :)
