While I despise PVP, I would have no problem with a PvP server. Only downside would be even less people to group with on the current servers. Can be ruff finding people LFG on the light servers.

While PvP was in EQ1 they probably won't add a PvP option (or server) in EQ2 the reason being it is mainly grp based at the mid to high lvls. Also they would need a new server and, as stated before, that would cause people from other servers to go to that server which would make people on light servers to leave

re: PVP & grouping
------------------------
I see how grouping could be a problem on a 'anything goes' PVP server.

However, if they made it "Qeynos vs Freeport" PVP, then it would still
let people group with their townmates.

Personally, I don't PVP much, but I see how the PVP stories seem to invigorate the WoW forums. Looks like a good thing to have as an option.

If people were like they should be, we could fight and join parties. Friendly battles are just entertaining. Unless there is a bitter hate-filled rivalry. But even Squall and Seifer joined forces. AFTER splitting eachother's heads open. There should be a field PvP on all the servers, or at least an arena PvP with spectators allowed. I'd love to be known like that. And don't even TRY to tell me there isn't a guy you know of that is rude to everyone .A completely arrogant ***, you'd like to teach one small valuable lesson to, in front of all the people he has humiliated, and bullied on. Plus, it's entertainment. Don't tell me you watched Gladiator for the storyline. You wanted to see heads ROLL.

I loved rallos zek on the first eq. I am now playing eq 2 and would pay more *hint hint* for a pvp server.

I'm about a month from switching to WoW.... I don't want to (I've tried it and it's really not my bag). But all my friends from EQ1 and real life are PvP players (formally myself included) and so they've all switched. It's just too nice to be in a guild with people that I see every day... can't pass it up.

The moral of this story is EQ2 needs a Qey vs. FP PvP Server!!

well here is my opinion.. dont make a pvp server BUT add a /duel command and make an arena where when u enter that arena its automatically pvp here is my thinking..

/duel is pretty self explanitory target somone type /duel they click accept or decline and w/e

no pvp servers cause of the grouping problem and it would just be a
big hastle

and you know that place in qeynos harbor that is closed for construction? i get the felling thats gonna be an arena of some sort but i dont know... i also think that they will add some kind of neutral city like PoK from eq1 with a cross town arena... those are just my ideas... anyway

I read today on the SOE forums that they may include PvP in the next expansion. People are up in arms about it.

"Another part of the EQII team is hard at work on our first Expansion Pack, coming out later this year. We've taken a lot of your recent ideas and feedback into account, and we're working on some innovative ways characters can move and interact with the environment. Also, we're taking the first step towards introducing PvP competition with the introduction of a new type of combat! " (letter from John Smedley)

Forced PvP is one of a handful of things that would make me, and many other quit.

I don't think I can describe the contempt I have for PVP. I have yet to meet a PVPer that was a mature adult.

Sorry if you find that insulting, its just a fact FOR ME. I'm sure they must exist, I just haven't encountered them.

2 things would make me quit EQ2 at this point:

1. Forced PVP (as in, not a PVP server, but all servers have PVP and its not voluntary)
2. Item Decay

I guess one more would be if all my friends quit EQ2 :)

Actually, if you read the recent Development posts from SOE, they are planning to add PvP into the game on all servers. It is most likely going to be geared towards the escalation of the acts of sabatoge between Qeynos and Freeport. They did say "way-back-when" that there might be attacks on either city. Here is the quote direct from John Smedley's Letter dated 4/7/05 "....Also, we're taking the first step towards introducing PvP competition with the introduction of a new type of combat!"

As long is it's not forced PVP, I wouldn't quit over it. But if it becomes mandatory, especially at the end game, well... Smiley: frown

Don't mind me. I havn't been in a good mood since someone dropped a house on my sister.

The impression I get is that it is going to be purely voluntary, or maybe only used for specific quests or events. Based on the vague referrences, they are developing a whole new combat system that will allow for such combat. Personally, I think it is only logical that there should be Freeport v. Qeynos PvP based purely on the game's storyline. They started with the sabatoge, so armed conflict is inevitable! :)

Forced PvP = Diablo & UO = "teh suck"

I don't think anyone in their right mind would do that.

However I loved the team pvp in EQ1, and atm I have to play WoW to get my fix of that (my monthly bills are gettin out of hand lol)

And to the person who said PvPlayers are immature:

... Wut r u talking about??/? PVP is the R00LesT nd u ar a No0baliscious CaREBAre >>

PVP for teh win!!!111!!!!

(couldn't resist)
