I'm a noob, obviously, just hit lvl 11 sorcerer recently, gonna go for sage I believe...
My question is, at what point will I be forced to take on a group for my attacks? I like being able to solo when I can, although I don't mind groups either. I just wondered at what point can I kiss soloing goodbye?
Thanks for input...

Welcome to EQ2. :)

I solo'd until level 15. At your level you'll get a ton of exp just by completing simple quests. At 15 or so, if found it much more time efficient to find a group when I could. After level 20 you'll probably need a group, or at least one other player with you.

If you are in Qeynos, talk to the Captain "so and so". Hes located in North Qeynos in front of the gate to the castle. If enter N Qeynos from the Antonica gate, just head the way you are facing. He gives a repeatable quest to kill rats and snakes in Antonica, good exp and money until 14-15.

In Freeport, go to West Freeport. Talk to a lady in the Coilition of Trade Folk building. Its by the East Freeport gate. She'll give you a repeatable quest for skeletal orcs in the wailing caves. Good money and exp on that too.

Sound out my miss spelled words heh.

I don't think you have to stop soloing ever. It's just so much easier to get where you want in a group. Especially for access quests. [you can wait till you meet the mininum level for the zone, then you get default access (still need to do the last part of it if you want to be able to Voyage there by sea)]

I pick on green ^^ mobs and it's about 1/3 as fast as a average group. And I'm a non-pet [but extremely pettable... meow!] mage too.

Im 38 conjuror and I can still solo assumeing its a solo mob. I can't even think about taking on any type of ^^ mob that gives exp though. At your level once your about lvl 15 you MIGHT be able to solo the scarecrows in Antonica. Those are excellent exp at that lvl, and they drop spells sometimes (I have seen them drop 2 mage spells for sure). Im not sure how well a sage solos though, I hear they are not as good at it later on.

Keep in mind that Sage is a tradeskill class.

From Sorcerer, your path is Wizard/Warlock, wielding heavy nukes with great damage.

You have some slow/stun/mez spells at level 16 and above. As soon as you nuke the mob, you will draw agro and be the only target it enjoys pounding. Nuke, stun, nuke, slow, repeat. :)

Conjurers have the pet to off-tank and spells to increase pet-hate-generation, effectively keeping the fight at a distance.

So expecting to get hit quite often, ensure you have the best armor you can afford, and spend extra money for good food (health regen) and drink (power regen).

I actually managed to solo a Blue group double up arrow the other day as a 20 Warlock. I didnt really expect to win the fight, but definately had a sense of accomplishment when I was done. And I thought Warlock would be about the worst solo in the game!

I am lvl 17 Sum almost to 18 and I only group to help out my guild buddies. I've made it without any help. In fact, I prefer it. I don't like to group if I don't have too. So far, I haven't had too.

I can take on a heroic blue (4 of em) all by myself with my pet of course without issue. So far the only creature I've considered grouping for is Holly Windstalker--and only because I'm not to lvl 20 yet. I may just kick her butt alone then! GO ME!

LOL. I had (deleted by SOE) a Crusader that I also solo'ed with...and yes, it was a bit easier then doing it as a Sum...but can still be done. Just can't eat and fight at the same time any more.

If you work your spells right, fast and in the right order, I'm sure you can keep it up forever!
