FFXI or EQIIFollow

#1 Mar 25 2005 at 2:49 PM Rating: Default
I played EQII for about a week, and I was bored right off, due to the fact the money system isnt that great, hunting materials for crafting I found gay( in FFXI atleast you had to be in a mine or have a rod and bait to fish exe) and the over all playing of the game was a let down. It might look appealling but it aint no FFXI.

thank god...

which simply makes my point, for every opinion there's an equal but opposite opinion. I hated the FFXI money system and the endless weeks of farming for one item. I LIKE item hunting raw materials cause it's (to me) more realistic and I know I can keep my crafting costs down if I simply spend the time to gather what I want... if you want to craft you'll need raw materials afterall.. and in FFXI you have to hunt them down too you just don't have to hunt as far (but you have to pay a LOT more). I LIKE the fact that in EQ2 I don't have to spend money on pick axes and fishing rods that break every 2 swings.

truth be told after playing EQ2 I couldn't play FFXI again.. EQ2 fixed everything that I thought was broken with FFXI in regard to my enjoyment of a game without becoming too easy.

I don't understand these posts!

No one wants to hear you spout off like a cry baby about why you hate this or why you hate that.

If you hate the game here is a little suggestion...

DON'T PLAY IT!

Go back to ffxi, im sure you will not be missed.

I for one like the differences between the games. I have only barely begun to play both, but I know I will end up juggling (or trying to) them for a long time. ^^

FFXI was my first MMORPG. It was very different from any other First person or third person game I had played. I figured, "Oh...I guess this is how online games are..."

Wrong! IMO, EQ2 feels like local game that people are used to playing, like quake or unreal or any of those crappy games. The interface is nice and intuitive.

I felt FFXI had too many restrictions. Can't jump off a bridge into the water!! I *really* hate invisible walls that prevent me from exploring areas in the game! EQ2 has some around mountains, but the FFXI invisible clipping walls were very annoying to me.

Anyhow, long story short, I prefer EQ2, though I think the FFXI community is very cool and would have loved to gotten involved if I could have put up with the game and the music, hehe.

penny for my thoughts? I'll give you 2 cents worth ;)

I stopped juggling FFXI. >.>

EQ2 - No PLing, no crying for a raises, no over inflated economy (yet, but there are SO many ways to make money), no elitist attitudes by seemingly everyone you meet.

FFXI - The complete opposite of the above. XD

I still play FFXI and also EQ2. And *cough* WoW...

I can list a lot of things about EQ2 and WoW that make me enjoy my time in those worlds. For FFXI? It's because of my friends. We static and have a good time. This is the only reason why I'm still playing FFXI.

But that doesn't mean it sucks. It's just not all that wonderful, _for me_.

With that said, I'll repeat what I said in that "gorilla" of a thread:

If you enjoy playing it... then it's all good. If you're having fun, that's all that matters.
