Hunting partner for a pet mage :: Free Realms

My wife is currently playing a Mage (Freeport) and is leaning towards a pet caster later on. I'm not sure what I want to create for a hunting partner so I thought I would ask you fellow Mages your opinion. My main character is a Mystic so I would like to play something a little different. What would you recommend as a hunting partner based on your experiences? Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

IMO, A tank will be good... not sure of the races available for Freeport.

I'm qeyno-based wizzy, and my bf plays a monk. Quite a good and effective combo and we can take green^^ mob easily. Blue^^ mob is possible but will drain all my power, and might have to make a run.

Just my 2-cents... =)

Thanks for the info. I was leaning towards either a tank class or trying the duo-mage thing. Does anyone have any experience partnering up with another mage? We definitely wouldn't be able to take the direct hits but the mobs would go down quite a bit quicker.

Healer types work wonderfully as well. I am a conjuror, and I team up with a templar. Pet tanks, cleric heals/nukes/debuffs, and I heal/dot. Not sure about higher lvls, but I don't see why it would stop working :) I'm lvl 30, and he's lvl 27. We can duo white con double ups (to me, as I'm higher lvl than he is). Not sure about a yellow con yet, we'll have to try that one out!
But if you don't like healer classes (you said you wanted something different than mystic...) Then duo-mage... any of the mages can go with conjuror. Just don't get aggro away from pet! Tank I had trouble with, as a conjuror, I can't heal the tank... pally maybe, tho?

I group with my brother, I am a conjurer and he is a necro, and we kick *** with that combo. We cant group with a tank unless we have a healer. But with our pets, keep them upgraded, we can take on even cons with two arrows up. We almost killed the demon fisherman for the EL access quest (yellow con two arrows up) but we both died because my pet was bugged and wouldnt appear after I recast him. Very strong combo and also good for the solo types. Good-luck with whatever you choose and remember to just have fun people, its just a game.
