I feel like a real newb, but I just used FD in town to see what it looked like, and now I'm stuck laying on the floor of the scribe in Willow Wood. I've tried moving, jumping, /stand, /sit, nothing will work.
Is there something fancy I have to do to get back up?

The FD ability put an effect on you, on the right side of the screen. Just cancel it and you will stand up :)
I use my sit/stand key (ctrl + s) and that always seems to work for me.
I just hit the X button on the keyboard.
Oh, so you dont make the mistake I did... Bruisers (monks maybe) get an enchanced (adept II) FD among their options at lvl 20.
Since I'm an idiot, I blew 2 gold on FD adept 1 at lvl 19 lol
(and much crying ensued).
The other abilities for bruiser are all enhanced attack skills.

Always, always take any chance you get to upgrade FD. You get Beslin's Still Mind option at 20, take it. However, later you'll Play Dead as a regular ability, and eventually (like 35ish, I believe) it'll be better than Beslin's. It's a good idea to get that one as upgraded as high as you can afford. I've never seen the Adept drop, so I had to buy it. It wasn't cheap, but it's worth it: FD will save your *** more times than you'll be able to count.
The same applies to Mend.
