I am wondering if EQ2 is the same as Eq1 as far as guards are concerned. I am from Qeynos, if i travel into freeport to see their broker will the guards kill me like they did in EQ1 or will they just kick me out of the city if they catch me?

I have never done this so I may be mistaken, but I have been told that you will just be escorted out of town and not killed.

However, if you just want to buy FP goods, you could buy on the black market. Each city has a single merchant who traffics in black market goods. The Qeynos black marketeer can be found by following the directions from this post:

Quote:
I imagine most people have worked out how to use the broker. These guys sell items offered by player merchants at a 20% commission but also provide the information you need to get to the inn room and buy without paying commission

There is also a character who will sell you Freeport goods, popularly believed to be cheaper than the Qeynos market generally is. This guy is a Fence and he is rather hard to find

To reach him first find the broker in Qeynos Harbour. By the broker are some steps leading down into the canal. Go in and swim north. You will have to duck underwater to enter a tunnel and will see the Breath meter appear,(for those without water breathing magic). Don't panic, the Fence is perfectly reachable before you run out of breath. Just go north up the tunnel and
soon on your right hand side you'll see a hole. Swim down through the hole then up into the room.

Visit the fence and don't neglect the fighter arts(cough). I've some paladin and monk ones but ignoring my obvious self-interest there are genuinely cheaper goods to be found despite the 40% fence surcharge. If you don't want to pay the surcharge then try /telling the merchant, not everyone sells afk

If you're at all nervous about this simply get a priest to put an
Enduring Breath spell on you but I found it blind with a fighter without any help when I first looked for it (took about an hour and a half but I didn't have directions)

I no longer have the name of the OP, (sorry), but his directions are accurate. Good luck and happy shopping!

When you do the betrayer quest one thing that is not written in the quest guide is that you MUST relinquish your apartment before you start the quest. Well I didn't do this so after I compiteted the betrayer quest I found out that I could not get an apartment in Qeynos because I still had one in Freeport. I then searched deeper in the posts from that guide and found out that I have to sneak in to my start city to relinquish that apt. as soon as I went in to the home city from the commonland docks every NPC in the city cons "ready to attack" (red border around name) however they will not attack only the guards will attack you and they do attack you and chase you if you run. If they catch up to you they do not kill you though you are automatically porting to the tent in front of the west Freeport gate in commanlands and then have to run back to the dock to re enter the start city to try again. Finally I was able to make it to the inn room in big bend before the guard saw me. Deleted my room and gated to Qeynos.

I am a Freeport Citizen in a Qeynosian guild, so I sneak in all the time - usually through the Peat Bog and then into the sewers to whereever I please. They will not kill you - they appear to attack and then you get the zone screen to Antonica.

None of the merchants in the outlying Qeynos areas will trade with me, so I doubt if the broker will. I have never tried that. The markup on the black market broker (40%) is substantial. Usually if I want to buy something from Qeynos, I use a Qeynosian alt to do it and then give the item to a guildie to transfer to my FP citizen. We smuggle stuff back and forth between the 2 cities like that all the time. hehe
