power/health regen and solo questionFollow

#1 Mar 09 2005 at 1:35 AM Rating: Decent
hey im one of those people that is still deciding between WoW and EQ2, and i just have a couple questions (i have already read through most of the WoW vs. EQ2 thread). My questions are...

1) how does the natural power/health regen compare to the mana/health regen of EQ1? Is there still meditation at all?

2) i've heard that EQ2 has become even more group based then EQ1, is this true? also are there still certain classes that are good to solo with even at higher levels, like in EQ1?

Thanks!

1. There is no medding like EQ1, you dont get better regen because you sit down or are on a mount. If you solo you have abit more downtime then grouping, but really, downtime in this game is non existant compared to EQ1. Just make sure you got the best playermade food/drink and you have np. (food not as important as drink in groups, depends abit on class).

2. All classes in EQ2 solo better then a EQ1 wizard, or druid. At ALL lvls.

Sitting down gives a slight regen increase, but it's almost not noticable.

Sitting has no effect in EQ 2.

I currently regen (out of combat) about 5-6% of my mana/hp per tick.

A EQ2 tick is 4 sec so in about 70 sec you can go from OOM & near dead to FM GTG.

Eating and drinking level appropriate provisions will speed that up even more.

Regen in combat is basically limited to spells and very rare items.

The best player made food and drink will speed it up, but even with vendor bought food and drink (or none at all) you still regen at a very nice clip. While out of combat you rarely 'med'.

Its nothing like EQ1, where I remember literally going afk for 15 minutes while I parked in a safe spot, so I could get back to full mana on my druid. I know they sped it up since then (this was a couple years back) but EQ2 is nothing like that.

Sitting has 0 effect. They were going to have it speed up regen slightly, but they took it out before it went live. Or so SOE has stated. I've tried sitting, and I believe them, it doesn't appear to have any effect at all.

Any class can solo, it depends more on the player than the class. If you are intelligent and can figure out what you are doing and what mobs to take on, you can solo. If not, it doesn't matter what class you are.

If you want to solo easily, pick a paladin or similiar class that can tank and heal themselves. I personally believe the paladin is one of the easiest classes to solo (then again, I play one, so I may be biased). And personally, I think they are a really fun class.

My newbie shaman solos really well too but is too young yet to make a judgement call.

I watched a guy the other day,a mage, and he soloed extremely well, although we couldn't always do the same mobs, and he had to have a lot more strategy than I do. I just wade in and start beating on the mob, he has to keep aggro on his pet.
