I am at 220%lvl 6. I have been working on trade skills, I have Gather, mining, and forestery up above 20. I am lvl 4 going on 5 in Artistan. But I have hardly any money.

Should stay and killed named mobs for some sliver or Is it easier to make money in FP????

I guess you can't level past 6 on the isle? I never stayed there long enough to find out. If it was me Id have been long gone. I really can't help you much in Freeport, but I know I made more money in the Qeynos area then I ever made on the Isle.

Also I am not for certain, but I THINK the one and only merchant you have on isle of refuge is one of the cheater merchants as I call them. The ones inside of your hometown pay more for stuff then they do.

well you can make ok money in FP with the quests , but I guess it all depends on whether or not you want to be a crafter .
I find T1 normal harvests WAY more plentiful and less camped then in the T1 zones in FP (Graveyard,Sprawl,Sunken City, Ruins).
So if you're not planning on crafting much Id say take off to FP , but if you want to craft for sure get to lvl 9 crafter on IOR because the materials are more plentiful .

Keep in mind tho , I dont believe you can get rares (such as lapis lazuli and such ) on IOR , may be wrong about that , but i remember reading that somewhere.

I cant see the point of staying really. If you go to FP now you will automatically hit level 8 and will be able to run off a load of quests for silver that will keep you levelling at the same time. Before you know it you will be killing mobs and getting drops that make the stuff that you get on IoR look a little bit crap. There is no more competition for harvesting or mobs in most lower zones than there is on IoR anyway...not like the good old days where we used to have blazing arguments about who got to the node first in the peat bog!

Cheers

If i stay there will be trouble
If i go there w ill be double"

i owuld reccomend staying on the IoR untill you get to artisan lvl 9 and have your harvesting skills maxed.

Its easy to do and rasing them is alot easier there than trying to do it in the newb areas outside of the cities.

YOu probably ownt make much silver on the island but you can make yourself some decant stuff relatively easily (some bags, App 3 skills)

I'm afraid I couldn't disagree more Cyrus. Getting to level 9 artisan on the isle is hard work, while in the city its a cake walk, even now when they took a lot of stuff off the vendors.

Leveling your harvesting skills in the newb zones is easy too, now, because there's so much less competition.

Just go to the newb zone, fish like mad, till you have about 4 stacks of some types of fish, then go skill up on those fish at the tradeskill instance, you'll be 9 in no time flat.

My opinion, obviously, but I think staying on the isle isn't worthwhile. But hey, synic, its your toon, you should do what you feel comfortable with. It won't hurt you to stay, but I personally think you can level up much faster off the isle, in tradeskills and harvesting skills.

However, if you stay, the money maker on the isle is the goblins, the second camp, the ones you would kill for the fighter quest. The ones with the hostages, I just can't remember their name. They drop a sceptre 1 in about 5 or 6 drops, and its worth over a sp each. Unless that's been nerfed.

I agree with goss. The one thing I would work on if you are heading to Freeport is your fishing skill. Get it high enough to fish in commonlands (30 I think). There are not to many good fishing spots in the newbie zones on freeprt side. Outside of that...head to the main land.

I disagree. Over a few casual playing days I leveled to 9 on the IoR, in fact it was convenient to have all crafting stations in the same room. Harvesting nodes, bank, and a merchant were all a few steps away.

The key is to craft all new recipies to pristine quality at least once. There is a significant exp bonus for doing that. You can also sell many of the crafted items back to the merchant, although not for profit, it's not a total loss. After making all the basic items, I made a few Tin Short Swords, backpacks, then moved into upgrading my Priest spells. Left the Island with App3 Smite and two 5 or 6 slot backpacks.

So to finally answer your questions (that have already been answered):
- Craft to level 9, upgrade your spells and make backpacks.
- Kill the named mobs only for the loot drops to fund your crafting.
- Get your fishing skill up.
- If you need cash, kill mobs for loot drops to sell to the merchant.

The main reason I stay on IoR untill 9 is just because the nodes are more plentiful and less camped . Also theres alot less aggro mobs hanging out around em , and even the ones that are are usually blue. Where as in FP T1 zones theres a very good chance that something you might not be able to handle easily may just happen across your path while your trying to harvest.

When I was leveling my sage in the beginning , I had to run around the T1 zones in FP and there was always, at least, 3 other people running around harvesting .Made it a pain in the *** to get a few stacks of lead or roots.

Now on IoR I almost have run of the whole island because most people either dont care about harvesting or are already at their 20's and have quit harvesting .

So IMO its easier on IoR to get to 9.
But like i said b4 if you dont care ablout crafting , might as well get over to FP and get to leveling.

/agree with Goss

I usually slaughter the goblin aggressors (the ones with the hostages) until I get the Hunger of Goblins title. Takes about 3-4 hours depending on how long you've been isle-bound.

And like he said, the scepters are a common drop. I usually leave the island with around 50s.

Although, I get lvl 9 artisan pretty fast by making those first-tier 12-slot boxes. And since the Isle is populated by new players, they sell very well (at cost anyway).

I gotta go with the "Get the heck outta Dodge" crowd on this one!

You can progress much faster once you get set up in FP and any further gain you might make in crafting on the island is more than offset by the ground you are already losing in your adventuring level.

You have already hit the XP cap for adventure so anything you kill from here on out is wasted experience. As it is, you will have to do the citizenship quest as soon as you get to FP and will not gain adv exp for it.

Another consideration is that as of yesterdays patch, you will get an even larger cash reward for any quests you complete so you have an even greater incentive to move on.
