Where would I find the person who gives out the TS writs? I heard it was the broker in NQ, but when I hailed him, he gave me some nonsense response, so either that is the wrong person or I'm not high enough in crafting for him to bother with me. Which leads to my second question...What lvl do you have to be to start taking writs?

The tradeskill writ person in NQ is in the cellar behind the Ironforge Exchange estate.

I think you can do writs at any level, just have to be in a guild.

I thought tradeskill writs was given in the various tradeskill societies? I know I am part of the wayfarers in Willow Wood that is where I get the collect 15 items quest. Gives 48 silver every time for the Thunder Steppes collections, not bad wage IMO. Also helps level the place up slowly but surely.

Wholesaler Tasks:
These are given in the basic Wholesaler Tradeskill Instances. Basicaly your starter area. These tasks are to go gather x raws, these always pay the same based on the level. These are meant to give new players coin and build the societies level.

Workshop Tasks:
These are given in the workshops you select at level 10. These tasks are to make X of a given item. The pay for these tasks is based on a number of factors. The teir of the items and the amount of money you spend crafting on the tasks. (Items purchased from a player DO NOT count so craft from scratch). These tasks are meant to provide some profit and build the workshops level.

Tradeskill Writs
These are given by a few specific NPC's within the city proper. These writs are meant to support guilds and provide status. The tasks are normaly to create of X of a given item. The reward is a trivial amount of Coin and Status to raise the guilds level. Note status is the MAIN consideration here, writs are not meant to be a profit activity.

Corison (or whoever), could you provide a list or a link to a list of the Tradeskill Writ NPCs? Thanks!

Also if u do the trade skill writ you take a faction hit from ever faction in Qeynos but the Wayfarers.

Do not know if faction is all that important in EQ2.

Just FYI

You don't really need a list or link for those NPC's as there's only 2 in the whole of Norrath.

The Qeynos lady is behind the desk in the crafting cellar behind the main building on the Ironforge Estate in NQ.

The faction hits don't matter too much because when you do other writs you pick up faction for the other groups. At higher levels your factions will unlock items on the status merchants for you.

This is separate from the items that are unlocked by your guild level.

Bluie, I find it a tad rude that you say I don't need a link or a list of Tradeskill Writ NPCs, then fail to identify both of them in your post. No worries, I found him myself.

The Freeport NPC is in West Freeport, in a semi-hidden cellar behind the Coalition of Tradesfolke (near the entrances to East Freeport and South Freeport).

Ok, since this is a thread about "writs" I have a few questions.

First, What exactly is a writ??

Second why can't I get anything from the lady inthe Ironforge Exchange??

Do I have to be in a guild to get a writ??

At what TS lvl must I be to get a writ if I do not need to be ina guild??

And how do the points youge t from the different quests and writs work??

Thanks fo rany help

Yep you have to be in a guild to get writs. They're tasks (quests) you perform to earn status points which go towards levelling up your guild.

That's the basics of it. You also have to be a patron in your guild for your status to count towards guild level. But anyone in a guild can do writs and earn status.

You can then spend your points at any City Merchant to buy special items. As your guild levels up more items are available.

At the same time as you earn status you are also earning faction with one of 5 groups. This is purely personal, and as you earn you will be able to purchase special faction items.

Thanks you Bluie. I would like to ask a few more questions.

1) Ok now the points are some of them personal to me and some to the guild? or are all to the guild??

2) What about the 5 groups, who are they, are they like tier 1 tradeskill societies? And can you list them??

3) these factioned societies, what benefits do I get personally from this faction and what benefits does the guild get??

I know I am haveing a lot of questions, but I thik it is better here than bothering someone in game so that we can concentrate on the importont stuff on Norath, like lvling.

thanks again and in advance for any help

Status points from writs are shared between you and your guild.

The five city factions in Qeynos are:
The Qeynos Guard (Fighter)
The Concordium (Mage)
The Tunarian Alliance (Scout)
The Celestial Watch (Priest)
The Ironforge Exchange (Artisan)

The five city factions in Freeport are:
The Freeport Militia (Fighter)
The Arcane Scientists (Mage)
The Buccaneers (Scout)
The Dismal Rage (Priest)
The Coalition of tradefolk (Artisan)

Guilds get nothing from these factions, it's all personal. As you gain faction you unlock items on the merchant that you can purchase with status points and cash.

Just keep in mind that as you're doing writs for your guild you're also earning personal status with the same task.
