Prices for Tier 1 and Tier 2 Spells - QuestionFollow

#1 Mar 07 2005 at 10:51 AM Rating: Decent
I've been making, and selling mostly Essences. Scribing seems to have a much higher fail rate for me, even though scribing and alchemy are both at the same level (90+).

The tier 1 essences, for App III, seem to never sell on the boards, even though I usually price them anywhere from 5-10 sp each. The Tier 2 essences, for App IV are a little better, but not by much, prices 10-20 sp.

I can roll out to Antonica, and get more buyers, but it is still extremely slow. I let people know im willing to take orders, yet, never seem to get any. But orders are not my problem really, im just wanting to know the appropriate price of Tier 1 and 2 essences. App III and IV.

Is 5-10sp too much for Tier 1 App III and IV? 10-20sp too much for Tier 2 App III and IV?

Please lemme know, mucho appreciato.

I'm sure it's pretty much server-based, so I'll speak from a Mistmoore perspective. Even more specifically, I've noticed that prices vary wildly from city to city. So I'll speak about Qeynos on Mistmoore.

The prices now are fairly stable, considering that they are final combines, and final combines are inherently less stable than the sub-combine market, due to price undercutting.

Tier 1 Apprentice 4 spells routinely sell out on my vendor for anywhere from 75sp - 95sp.

Tier 2 Apprentice 4 spells routinely sell (again, on my vendor) for between 95sp - 1.25gp.

Now, it depends entirely upon which spell you're talking about, also. If you are making an App IV spell that has a common-drop Adept 1, then you're not going to get squat for that spell. But if, on the other hand, you make App IV spells whose Adept 1 counterparts are very rare, you'll make a killing, and get as much as 2gp for that App IV (for example, the Tellurian spells tend to be more rare than, say, Stupefy. Stupefy is near worthless, while Tellurian Recruit routinely sells for around 2gp.)

I haven't begun making Tier 3 spells, so I can't comment on those.

Well for me personally , I wont spend more then 20s for a T1 or 30s for T2 app4 , I see alot of people try and sell em for close to a gold .If people buy em , more power to em , but they dont get my coin . Id rather go without then spend close to a gold on an app4 spell that im going to upgrade to Adept1 as soon as I get lucky enough for a drop (which happens relatively often )

Well, that was sort of my point. It's pretty clear which Adepts drop more frequently than others. So craft the App IV versions of spells whose Adept versions don't drop frequently.

If you have an App IV of a rare-drop Adept spell...then you don't need the adept version. And yes, people do buy them. When I craft 20 App 4 spells and leave my merchant on overnight, I'm sold out by the time I wake up. It's rarely the case that I'm not.

It just depends on how much that silver is worth to you. Many folks out there have low level alts that they are trying to grind. The grind is a helluva lot easier if those alts already have a full set of App IVs waiting in their bank for them.

I'm an alt fanatic. I never start an alt without having a full set of App 4s waiting for him/her in the bank, all the way through level 19.
