How'd the weekend go?Follow

since I've not seen one of these show up here for various reasons.. figured I'd ask..

so how did it go? Did you do what you wanted in or out of game?

for me it was something like this:

Got Embeth to 19th level (far faster than I expected to actually) I rarely (as in almost never) group but a Sorcerer and I were both hunting Orcs and he asked if I would like to duo.. it was actually quite a bit of fun, the enchanter / sorcerer duo works well on a scary level.... I got a good feel for an enchanter's role in a group which was also very interesting, I must have done something right since I got friends list added. ^_^

My duo static Juri was finally taken out of moth balls since my duo partner (and S.O.) hasn't felt like playing for a while but we did finally play a bit last night did a few quest and both leveled.. ^_^

got Juri to 11th level scholar and discovered how much I dislike the advanced tradeskill society tasks... grrrr.. tin symbol... grrr... lots of crude... grrr.. lots of crude.. lol... oh well I think of it as XP.

Was telling IRL friends who play EQ2 that I was considering taking Embeth up to jewler to which there was an overwhealming "Thank you god" 'cause they want someone to provide them with jewler items on the cheap (actually since they're IRL friends I'd make them stuff for free).

as for outside of game...

Finished watching Azumanga Daioh.. ^_^ soooo good...

went to visit my taller half's grandmother in the hospital.. she's doing well. ^_^ we were out for a few hours and I got a terrible headache. :-\

did a few sketches.... ^_^

laundry.. gahhh.. =_=

what about you?

I took Grognog on his first spin of Thundering Steepes this weekend, duoing with a RL friend. We both managed a ding (22) while working on a large handfull of quests. After the frustrations of Nek, I have to say it is worth the extra travel for us evil siders to hunt in TS.

Also managed to polish off 4 guild writs while running my guilds first "Writ Night". We managed an excellent turn-out (which I was worried about) and even dinged the guild.

Sunday night I believe I was placed on some strange form of torture punishment, as my wife forced me to watch the Academy Award marathon. Teach me to EQ on a friday night.....lol.

I spent 3 hours camping Lord Androus, 5 camping Rama'Nai and 4 camping the orc captains for the Lightstone. Fun.

My weekend went rather well even though I didn't play very much.

Friday night trio-ed with 2 rl buddies, predator/warrior/druid combo. We laid waste to a multitude of solo and group mobs in Antonica. One death - predator went down to a gnoll caster add outside of Archer's Wood.

Saturday morning - dragged my 4th character, a soon to be "baby bard" off the island, then did a little crafting with my 19 taylor and spent the rest of the day and evening in trader mode.

Sunday morning - ran the class quest turning my scout into a bard then took her on a gathering spree, grabbed a total of 47 low level quests! (the fullest any of my journals has ever been!) Now I just need a block of time to run the errands, kill the mobs and collect the swag! Spent the rest of the day and night in trader mode.

Made lots of money!

I didn't start the Betrayal Quest this weekend like I had planned, just so much other stuff to do that is time consuming. I'm trying to wrap up all of my quests while I still can, while keeping an eye on my XP and level. I think I was just under 15 last night when I logged off. It can be a little frustrating though, because it seems that just as I finish up some quests, I find more to do.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, I love doing quests. It beats just going out killing things to level up, the frustration is entirely self imposed. From the beginning I set out to accomplish as many quests as I could, but the excitment and challenge of the Betrayal Quest and the imposing level cap (17) make me anxious to "get on with it" so to speak. I don't know if I will be able to do Freeport quests as a Qeynosian, I considered it unlikely, so...

The other thing I worked on all weekend was harvesting and tradeskilling. I made some strongboxes for my bank, a couple of backpacks, some Apprentice III combat arts, and some yummy foods and drinks. I really like tradeskilling a lot and right now the only thing holding me back (besides time) in that regards is storage space! All of my harvestables are taking up the storage space in my bank and on my character. My skill isn't high enough to create the big slotted or weight reduction items, but you can be sure, getting there is high on my list. I'm glad I chose Outfitter as my subclass, because I will get an opportunity to make those invaluable items.

My time as a tradeskiller is divided though, because I have noticed most significantly now, how substandard my equipment is. This is very bad for a fighter class, especially when I am beginning to have problems with single encounter blue conned enemies. I am still using my Freeport Citizenship Sword at (almost) level 15. Pathetic, I know. It's so easy though, to gain experience and levels while questing, plus acquiring good weapons and armor is expensive, no matter what anybody says. As soon as I get the time and the space (I need to make more backpacks and strong boxes first) I will start focusing on some hardcore weapon and armorsmithing. It is one of the main reasons I went Outfitter in the first place, so I could make my own gear.

I do have to say though, that cooking is really fun, and if/when I create another character, I will definitely go that route. I've been cooking up a lot of food and drink so I have a decent stockpile before I am kicked out of the city and I start my long expidition.

JACKPOT! Last night shortly before I logged off, I found an Adept I spell, Ensnare in an enemy dropped chest. These spells (Adept I) on my server range from 15gp to 60gp. I set the price at 19gp before I went to bed, but so far no takers. I've considered dropping it as low as 15gp or 10gp, but only after a little time (but not too long). I am fully conscious of the posts in this forum about the high pricing of tradeskill items and I certainly want to give a fair price, both ways. I believe in creating a win/win situation where an item is still priced high enough for the seller to make a decent profit, but low enough to be accesible to those who need it. What are Adapt I spells going for on your server and what do you think a fair price is?

Concerning tradeskill costs though, I can certainly understand and justify other players wanting to price their final products high. I have yet to make a profit tradeskilling and I have already invested almost 1gp (including recipe books). 1gp is a lot when I struggle to hold on to 30 silver and that is with no weapon or armor upgrades, all of my equipment is from quests or enemy drops.

Well, that was my weekend, the short of it anyways. I am still trying to figure out how to start the language quests, and discover more about lost Neriak. I would like to join the Thexians if that is possible, and even though there is talk in Freeport of this group spreading insurrection, I've not met any Teir'Dal who've offered me a chance to join or attend secret meetings. No matter, when I go Paladin they will all probably hate me anyways.

Look me up on Neriak server if you are thinking about doing the Betrayal Quest also or are on the Qeynosian side and want to lend a hand to a soon to be citizen. I will most definitely want a group for the 500 gnoll gruelfest!

Coolest thing I saw all weekend: A splendidly dressed level 50 Erudite magic user (didn't catch the class) riding on white horse, was leading me to the Wailing Caves when an undead jumped out and aggroed on me. The skeleton was halfway to me when a ball of energy (lightning ball?) shot out of the Erudite's hands (while still on the horse) and fried then enemy in one blast. It happened so fast, that my nervous system was overloaded between the sudden "Oh ****" and then "Wow, that was cool." Smiley: jester

ensnare is a pretty low level scout archetype adept... I've seen it for less than 1 gold on my servers... :-\

my assassin hardly every used it.. I tried it once or twice.. decided it wasn't all that useful in solo situations or groups and subsequently cleared the hotkey...

My *almost a* ranger uses ensnare all the time as a *free* pulling tool. Tossing arrows around can get expensive and I find that unless I want to pull something aggressive or pull from a greater distance, ensnare is quick and cheap. Especially on greens!

I do agree however that it is not a high demand spell, especially since scouts get a chance to take the master 1 quality upgrade for free following the class quest at lvl 10.

true true...

I typically carry two types of arrows..

cheapies if I'm pulling for a group.

or uber expensive when I'm solo'ing and want to pull and do extreme damage with the initial strike, which improves my odds of success.

I also noticed back shot does more damage than open shot and is much more arrow conservation friendly... personally I want head shot (assassin ability) which ignore's AC.
