I really don't understand why the rare drops are so rare. I have been playing this game for 3 to 4 months and never got a rare drop. I need silver cluster or coral to make adept 1-4 spells and its so da*n hi (15 to 25 gold each). If I happen to make an adept 1-4 spell I would have to chage 30g or more to make a little for my time sitting here and waisted product. So what can I do to make money on the game? It seems that sony is the only one making money on this game! I still can't believe that they charge you to buy at a broker. Now with the new patches everyone can make everything. (Is this Correct?) I really like the game but am growing tired of the bullsh*t. I played EQ and thought I was moving up with this one. Not so sure anymore. Someone please help me to under stand what sony is doing here. I actualy feel they are to common. As it is, if you want a rare you can buy one at almost any time from the broker or from the trade channel. I get 2-3 rares a week harvesting, and I only harvest part time.
Rares are meant to be *RARE* and not a common drop item. Right now they are very easy to get, and the last patch made the low level ones even easier.
You are NOT meant to have a full set of Adept3's easily, yet most of the players I know have Adept3's for everything they actualy use. This suggest to me at least that they are to common.

Also I find making a adept 3 version of a spell then trying to sell it is a waste of resources. You are better off advertising that you have a rare and will making it into the spell of thier choice.
Make sure you have a buyer 1st. Personally I would not even do that, I would let folks bring me thier rares and charge them a fee to make the spells.
Also you mentioned everyone can make everything. That isnt exactly what happened. Everyone can make every sub compent. Only tailors can make light and very light armor, only weapon smiths can make weapons.
As a sage only sages can make spells, but you no longer require someone else to make your paper or your ink.

I myself have found 15+ rares in the game and have 9 on my main toon on everfrost (saving em to sell and buy a horse :) hehehe)
But just last night I got 2 in NeK so yes they are rare but not super rare.

Holy cow ?? What server ? LOL i cant find a rare to save my blasted life ! Guess im just unlucky :(

I have noticed that some rares are harder to find than others.
Tier two rare bone is a super-rare, foraged for 1 week solid and never even found a node! and only got 2 rares from normal nodes. But rare is rare so I guess it takes time

where do you find the bone nodes? i cant find em anywhere... t2 ones... like antonica

I found a bone in Antonica, but the node is extremely small, you could miss it and you have to be almost on top of it to see it! It is the only rare I have ever found in months of harvesting!
T2 Wood Rares are actualy bugged I suspect.
Unlike every other rare in the game, the T2 Wood Rare spawns its own node. Its one pull, and is clearly a rare. The reason you never see them, is any one walking by will harvest it. Unlike normal nodes which many people will ignore unless they are looking for that resource.

how can you know its a rare? got a screen shot of it looking different? and can somone show a screen shot of the bone node?
and whats the bone node called?

The easist way is fairly simple, if you spend any amount of time in an area and you seee 100 of a single type and one of another.. that one is proubably rare. :) For the bone nodes, they say bone and they do not look like any of the standard nodes. More like a twig sticking out of the ground.
If you check http://eq2-tradeskills.com/WebHelp/Index.htm it lists all the harvest items by teir including rares. Note that there are NO rare food or fungus items. However some items sell for more then others. Drink items such as Fayberries and Honey sell very well.

I am on the everfrost server. I sold my silver cluster to guy yesterday for 5g ( I know low) but he turned out to be a great guy and fun to talk to.
As of today I have in my inventory 1 rare bone, 2 Corals, 1 avg armadilo pelt, 1 Palladium, 3 steel, 1 Jasper i seem to get a new one every other day.
I do harvest a LOT of nodes, all I see in fact and I have still made it up to 33L :)
I have found one rare...sisal root and cant for the life of me get rid of it...nobody will buy it and i know im not selling it any higher than anybody else is...lol. But other than that, I hear people talk about rares like they're not, but they are...extremely rare...atleast to me

Thats actually what a T2 rare "should" go for , but some people get way too greedy . Silver clusters on the broker on my server go for 15-25g. How anyone that can get benefit from a T2 adept3(lvl 20-30) is supposed to afford the spell thats made with that ridiculously priced rare (without resorting to buying plat online) is beyond me . Ive pretty much given up on Adept3 spells altogether because of this :(

i think that when setting prices there should be something built in saying... "Suggested retail price" or something

Would do no good even if everone sold T2 rares for 5g all the people who bought them to make and sell spells whould still sell the spells for 20+ gold :P

I wouldnt mind paying 20g for an adept3 , problem is , noone on my server sells em for that much on the broker .
I went and looked for a Efflorscence adept3 yesterday , and was up for 45g .... a T2 adept 3 for 45g (and of course was the only one on the broker or fence) thats just friggin greedy IMO .
