Sorry to hear that happend to ya, but if we ever want to get a sence of community then we will have to ignor the idiots. I would wait until the game evolves somemore before deciding to leave. Just think in a few months all the selfish and inmature ppl will have left to ruin another game.

CANT WAIT FOR THAT DAY!

I've only played eq1 and eq2 as far as MMO's go. I've read discussions about other games that are similar and there are always these jerkoffs. Now it's possible that they didn't see your /ooc goin on and were actually looking for him. It's possible they don't even speak english. A lot of things are possible but none of them make this suck any less.

The thing about online games is they are online, with other people. Ya know that jerk that cuts you off in traffic? Yea, he's playing the game. Ya know that person that makes like $200,000 on his bank account interest alone and feels he is above everyone else? Yea, he's in the game. So are all the other type's of A-holes you can think of. On the flip side, ya know that person that held the door for you this morning as you were going into the bank? Yep, he's in the game to. So is the person who stopped to help you when you got a flat tire on the side of the road. There are some really nice, friendly, funny, cool people out there and then there are some real jerks. It's a tradeoff you must accept and deal with if you are going to play online games.

Beautiful Post Kildarner, you get a rate up :). I completely agree with what he said, there are the ups and downs of online games. There is going to be selfish pricks who think only of themselves, and dont give a crap about anyone else. Theres also going to be those who will help you out, and be there when you need them, and ultimately become good friends. I can say that I made many enemies playing EQ1, but I also made some great friends. Ultimately, just put up with the a-holes, and dont quit because of them, because that would mean that they win. One day, maybe in a perfect world, everyone will be nice and help each other out. Nah, prolly not. Anyways, just remember that your the bigger man for having /ooc'd that Olog was up to get more people their kill, and they prolly have small penises.

Someone at SoE once said that it's not possible to design a game that can stop people from being jerks.

You were being really nice mate, thinking of others. That karma will come back and repay you one day, and good things will happen for you.

You expect people to know what your thinking? Next time say something, don't just expect people to bow before the person who seen the mob pop.

Quit whining.

Aye great explanation Kil , rate up from me too .
Rate down for the troll who said to quit whining .

Yes i came across this same situation last night , but not even on a rare mob! I was finishing up a bunch of left over lowbie quests (specifically the one Velpo gives you in Temple Street) where you have to kill orc exiles in the ruins. So I run up and there are none there , which immediately tells me someone just wiped em . So i stand there and then when one pops i get this little prick telling me " hey man those were mine , i been camping em for my quest for 20 mins now !"

I politely tell him that i need them for a quest as well and we will just have to share the spawns . I get told " Im a Dark Elf I dont share crap !" . So at this point i realize he must be playing on mommies computer and is just a little kid . So we go back and forth for a little bit , I have to admit it was fun making him mad .

But i left him to his devices after about 3 or 4 minutes and told him to try and be nicer to others . But this is the first time EVER in this game that this has happened to me . I have to say that for the most part almost everyone i have run into has been , at minimum, civil , if not downright polite .

So i dont think its the state of the game to come , I think you just ran into a couple jerks . Dont let it phase ya , the fact that you even did an ooc to see if anyone else needed him speaks leagues about how you play EQ and makes me wish you were on my server so we could get a group goin ! :)

Keep fighting the good fight imreadytogo !

I also try to see if anybody else needs a mob like that as well. Like there was the day me and a guildie decided to camp Bloodtalon for DWB. By the time he spawned we had a full group and 5 of those 6 people needed him for DWB.

Sad to say I have met alot of Jerks, idiots, and greedy people in eq2, way more then in eq1. Since I have started EQ2 I have had a sword of thunder stolen basically, lost several spells to classes who don't even need them, and had massive debt due to groups that are clueless.

The Sword of Thunder loot still eats me up to this day, not only did the guy keep it after I won the random, he rubbed it in my face and sent me nasty tells curseing like a sailor. I have seen people offer up to 2pp for that item, would have been nice so I could have some nicer spells.

Anyways love the game and all (minus Sonys constant nerfing), I just hope these bad apples do leave eventually.

I feel you're pain... an almost identical thing happened to my brother and me. With Olof no less. We were camping him for days, so we appreciated how rare he was. Finally bro found him and was waiting for me to get there. As I'm running up he notices a priest running behind me.

So my bro sent him a /tell "killing olof, you need?" simultaneously with an /invite.

He ignored both, so we figured he wasn't interested. So bro was in process of /ooc just like you, when the priest dashes up and nukes Olof!!

Not only that, but he was in a well-respected guild, so we sent a /tell to the leader to inform him of what happened (we weren't rude, but as we're in a guild ourselves we know the one bad apple rule). So we got a flame back calling us bishes and noobs and losers etc etc (from the leader, mind you).

All that drama aside.. it only stands out in my memory because it's the opposite of what normally happens. Most people are at least reasonable, and many of them are downright kind.

You're not alone, m8, hang in there.

I feel your pain. It wasn't until recently that I realized just how many people really have no clue how to play this game.

Here are a few things I have wasted lots of time attempting to explain to people in the last week.

1) How to seperate chat windows, and why it might be usefull.

2) Running in circles when you have stolen argo IS A BAD idea.

3) How to enter the URL to get to a website. (I swear to god!)

4) Spell upgrades do not magically shoot out my back-side, and sometimes take a little while to make.

5) Yes, I know your a Necro, and no running over there mid fight to pull those mobs was not a very good idea. No it was a bad idea this time too.

6) How to seperate chat windows, and why it may be usefull. I know I am repeating this one, but it has become a pet peeve....and I can not believe how few people even know that you can do this.

I figure in a year or two we may.....with constant effort and oft bitten tongues.....be able to get a fairly well trained community. Or not.

1, he\she never said anything in the OP like "Hey I need him too" in OOC.

2, Basing the other persons personality on a assumption is not smart. Sending them a tell and having them be an *** to you is different. I don't support stealing, matter of fact I am nice ingame. But accidents happen, get used to it. Feel lucky you seen him pop, maybe the person was there for a couple hours killing place holders? So maybe it was his to start with and you were going to steal it?

3, I may be a troll, but I used to post a lot here and came back to see how many posts there are about how the game sucks, or how much more whining is going on, or how two people that appear mean ingame can ruin a persons perspective on life it seams.

4, rate downs mean nothing. I look at it as what I am ;) Right now I am number one sucka :p

With all my smart-assness aside, don't let things get to you ingame. Try again I am sure you'll get him.

Let me rephrase this for you. "I got to the mobs I needed, but there were none up so they were obviously being camped. But I'm too cool to come back later, so I told the guy that he had to share with me".

This, at least in the old EQ1 days, would make you a total prick and give you a bad reputation if you did it regularly.

Right off, you admit that someone was quite obviously camping them.

So, he's keeping all the spawns clear and yet you decide you are more important than him, and he should just have to slow down his quest completion to accomodate you.

And he's the prick?

Now, I don't get mad about this sort of thing anymore, I just accept that people are like this, that they think of other people as toons and not as real people. But don't try and equate the two situations please.

well its not eq 1 , and there are no "camps" in eq2 and also why shouldnt he share ? Thats what an MMO is all about. Not to mention the fact that he wasnt there when i got there , so technically i got there first. And he was a total asshat right off the bat to me so he's darn lucky i let him have any kills at all . Has nothing to do with me thinking im more important than him , its simply the fact that the money i pay a month is just as green as his and therefore im entitled to those kills just as much as he is . And also i wasnt trying to equate the two , i was just posting my experience , which is after all what a message board is for right ?

There's no camps, true.

But... you got there and the mobs were not up. Therefore, obviously, someone had cleared them. Instead of figuring out who, and trying to share or even join up with the guy, you start clearing mobs. That's rude.

I would have been a little pissed too.

I've liked a lot of your posts, but you sound like a selfish jerk in this one, the type of person that this post was about originally, the type of player that has ruined any sense of community because he treats other players like toons and not like people.

Maybe that's not what you intended, but that's what your story says.

Well i did look around for someone . Noone was there , and i would have gladly grouped up with him except he wouldnt have gotten quest credit because i was to high a level .

I may have come off like a jerk in this post but I was a little irritated when I posted this so that probably came out in it .
I was polite to him at first but he immediately came off rude so i countered with additional rudeness. that was probably the mistake , i should have moved on instead of lowering myself to that level .
However, I still stand by the fact that people just need to learn to share, if I have a quest that i want to do , and someone is camping the same mobs , why should i have to wait to do my quest? Sharing is more than a reasonable expectation.
And like i said , i would have gladly grouped with him had he been high enough level .
either way my OP wasnt intended to hijack the thread, just to share a story that is similarly negative .
