Strange BehaviorFollow

I had a quick 15 minutes to play this morning so I logged in with my conjuror to do a /respec and noticed she was quite close to finishing out a 10% block of XP so I decided to do that real fast before getting ready for work..

so there I am out in TS beating up on the occassional deer and bird.. when I see a duo not too terribly far fighting scarecrows.. double arrow yellow to me, but I'm well outside of aggro range.. then I see the big fighter go down at which time his duo partner starts running about training this thing..

then the strangeness..

he comes between me and my Tellurian Hero and stops for a moment with this thing behind him.

Was he exepcting me to do something about it? 0_o remember I'm in mid fight here... Even if I had not been in mid fight.. it was double arrow yellow uhh.. no, no.. and no again.

so he gets hit once more and decides to take off running again.. if he died (and he likely did since he was in the deep orange) I didn't see where.. but my question is this:

if you're getting chased by something.. why run up to someone else who is solo'ing another fight? It makes more sense to make a bee-line for someplace you can get back to easily and recover your shard without potential aggro.

This isn't the first time this has happened either.. typically when I solo I try to find a nice out-of-the-way spot, but it's still pretty common for someone training to literally briefly park on top of where I am for some bizarre reason.

just found this to be strange behavior and couldn't understand it...

Ive had this happen as well, and from what I figure, they simply see someone standing there, not really noticing you are fighting, and they expect you to help them. If it is a little guy that is gettin pounded on and I have nothing else Im doing atm then I help them, but if the mob would give me an old fashioned **** raping, then you better beleive Id be hitting the old dusty trail.

I havn't started to play the game yet. I once read that you had to shout for help to unlock the encounter. Was that correct info? Also on what had happend to you. Did they even say anything in OOC or shout for help? If not i have no real what they were thinking.

Lol...I remember people doing this in beta. Certain mobs would train you if a person stopped at the right spot and cleared themselves of the aggro. Some people would even die right on top of you just so the mob would kill you too. Most mobs now just reset to their spawn spots though. This guy in TS should definitley be able to out run a scarecrow though and he probably knows that. He was probably just stopping to say hi or check me out or something. He might also have his graphics turned down and didn't see that you were fighting right away. In any case it is pretty weird and nobody should ever expect help from one person with a group mob.

Sounds like the kind of thing that went on in EQ1 a lot. Maybe this guy played EQ1 and old habits die hard?
