What happened to the Community?

Now some backstory: Early January I had to cancel my account because I was moving into a new apartment and wanted to see how firm my budget was before I started doing things like rewarding myself. Fast forward to yesterday and today I bring my EQ account back up, log into my old 17 Sorceror, and try to do the Fallen Gate quest.

Now before I could never solo the Sand Giants, and now I can't seem to either. Maybe I suck, I don't know. So. This group blind invites me, no problem, they ask if I can level in FG (a question they should have asked before inviting), and I said, "No, but I'm working on the quest right now, would you like to help me slay these 5 giants and such?"

The reply?

"I just did that quest so I don't want to do it again."

Okay.

I just thank for invite and disband from group.

I /tell a couple of high level people I had once known and asked for help.

Same result.

Now I understand people are busy and stuff, but isn't a point in this game to help out other people? I've taken the time to point people in the directions they needed to go and such.

So my question is: Is there any server with a real tight knit community?

Because Lucan DLere apparantly does not.

well if I had any characters on the server I'd help you out.. but the sandstone giants are possibly solo'able at about 17th or 18th level.. however the three Tier'Dal in the instance that you have to beat are not soloable til 19th or 20th level...

speaking as someone who has solo'ed the fallen gate quest..

was it worth the effort.. honestly no, sure it was fun but Fallen Gate is a pretty nasty place... you would do almost better getting other quest.. cresting 18th level, and then getting a group together and going to Nek forest. and beat up the solo skele's across the bridge. (they'll be red to you at that level but a group of 18's should be able to bring them down)

Not really no. We all pay our monthly fee to have fun. For some, helping others is fun. For others, its not. For most of us, helping others is fun some of the time but not other times.

Well, honestly, if some guy I hadn't seen in a month suddenly sent me a tell asking for help with a quest I'd already done in the past, I'm not sure I would have helped either. Depends on what mood I'm in and whether this is a good friend, or a real life friend or just some guy I hung out with a few times over a month ago.

What you are basically saying is "I begged a bunch of people to do this quest for me, and they wouldn't help". Yup, that's going to happen.

Nowhere do you describe that you tried to form a group of people OF YOUR OWN LEVEL that also might need the sam quest, which is what most of us would do. Not ask some high level people to do the quest for us (which is basically what you are asking when you ask higher level people to "help" with a quest).

Maybe you did try and form a group and had no luck. That happens. Its not a server problem, I honestly don't think one server is much different than another.

Personally, I would have looked for a few people that were around my level that were LFG.

I see a lot of people LFG, very few people forming them. Sometimes I see 5 or even 10 people all shouting "LFG" but not one person willing to form a group, so nothing happens.

Use your organizational skills, or use this as an opportunity to work on them. Form your own group, and kick some Giant backside!

Or you could just kill that one named Derv in CL that drops the key to FG. Thats what I did, saved lots of time, easy solo for 2 lvl 18 or so.
