Patch Frustrations...Follow

#1 Feb 21 2005 at 10:51 AM Rating: Default
Alot of peeps seem upset about the newest patch including me but EQ was advertised as a "dynanic" world. True this like saying ur AAD with H kid is "a fun loving dynomo" ..... but thats the way sony runs it and its up to us to adapt or quit.

I personally dont like the patch, i think it helps the guys that make armor just great, and with the bonuses on the crafted food provisioners everywhere are rejoicing - everyone one else seems to have been given the shaft but something tells me sony will keep us on our toes. Although i thought is was lame that every tredy player out there had a SK or Guardian just so they could have there spify horse its was just wrong what sony did to all ur horse speeds ....i feel ur pain guys.

Bottom line (for me at least) is i like a world where anything happens, good or bad, cuz its gets me away from RL for awhile and gives my wife a reason to roll her eyes at me on a regular basis.

And one more thing sony - stop ******** Bruisers on Armor ... we are BRUISERS .... not MONKS !!

I have to be honest with you here, I had a tough time understanding what you are trying to say. You really might want to read over what you write before you post.

Secondly, while I don't know what a "tredy" player is, I do know that none of the people I know that have an SK or Paladin, including me, made them for the "spiffy" horse. And its Paladins, not Guardians. As far as I recall, Guardians get the "fun spell" hand of the just or something like that, that glows. Not sure, but I'm almost 100% sure they don't get a horse.

Tradeskills: A lot of us that tradeskill aren't happy either. The cost of tradeskilling went way up, and the profits way down unless we sell to other players. Since armor is now attuned, its quite possible that players will be more picky about armor and weapons that they buy. I know I will only buy armor that's a fairly large upgrade, since I have no confidence in SOE getting the pricing right on the merchant buy of attuned armor.

Many hard core tradeskillers are happy because they believe they will sell more armor. Most are unhappy that SOE seems to believe that tradeskilling should be done at a loss, while adventuring be done at a gain. In other words, SOE wants us to only break even, at best, on tradeskills, but its ok to make both money AND xp when adventuring.

Yes its a dynamic world, but I don't think that term was intended to apply to them changing all the underlying rules. But then again, I played EQ1 for over 4 years, I tend to expect the entire world view to change from time to time.

I wasn't particularly upset about losing my horse speed. Compared to the fun spells the other classes got, we were ridiculously rewarded. On the other hand, I really despise when they do something like this. If it was broken, they likely figured that out mere days after it went live, why leave it in and let us get used to it for a couple of months? Why not take it out in the next patch? And they patch daily, its not like there aren't plenty of opportunities. I accept that it was broken, and it was nice of them to leave us at 10% now, I suppose, but I really wish they would have told us right up front. Even if they didn't take it out for 2 months, tell us right away "hey btw, Pally/SK horses are way faster than was intended, we will be removing that when we have time". Ok, fine, fair warning.

Anyway, my 2 cents worth on your comments and on the patch :)

I have an SK and the horse speed nerf hurt but I knew it was coming. No other class got a fun spell that did anything except SK's and Pallys and why should we? On another note wizards and warlocks have had their damaged upped right where it should be. My warlocks damage has tripled and when parsed I now out damage every class in the game....the way it should be =P

for the horse nerf, i don't know what others think but should'n't the correct mentality be "if the pally and sk got a useful spell at 20, we could give the other classes useful spells too" instead of "now that only pally and sk have useful spell while others don't, we should just take it away despite the fact that people have been used to the spell for 3 months."

I mean if fariness is the only concern here, wouldn't giving other classes a useful spell be fair too? Why do we have to make someone miserable to feel the fairness? Could anyone explain that to me please?

Actually I'm not too sure what "tredy" means either.

I don't mind the pally/SK nerf, though the horse speeds didn't particularly bug me...but 10% is a nice reasonable increase without unfairness.

Its crap pure and simple the horse speed nerf was a terrible decision on the nerf ****'s part ( way to go soe dev's)I can not think of one good reason why they changed it? can you? what prupose did it serve slowing our Sk horses down to 10% yes 10% what a joke not even worth using anymore no one in game can give me any good reason's why either other than a 10 year old mentality of my fun spell sucks so should your's nice very nice childish ******** mentality if they wanted it to be 10% only then they should have made it that way in the first place not half way through say well ***** you and what you think we are changing it anf attuning crafted armor thats even more salt in the wound and for that simple fact I will not buy armor from no one its pure quest armor for me now how is that for economy stimulation morons they made some not so sound decisions in the past few patch's I aint givin crafters **** especialy cause if you try to sell it back to vendor I get a couple silver after I paid gold nice SOE your about inteligent unfortunately now a days company's like sony do as they please and there customer have to like it or leave it the customer is never right anymore so on a so forth thats the problem if they really cared about there customer that pays there bills they would actually contact us get our opinion on the product that we pay real money for in real life! we have a bunch of **** dev's trying to understand economy wow ya thats gonna work good luck with that.

big sig heil to you dev's nice job!

I think I agree with you... remember: punctuation is a good thing.

On the upside, at least you can sprint on a horse now. My sk buddy hated running away on his horse, since he'd have to unsummon it everytime.

While this would be nice, the problem is, is that this is more development resources. That would mean creating over twenty new spells that would have to have large effects to be "fun spells". To change the running speed of a horse would take less then 5 minutes.

Also, the way that SOE looks at it, is that adding new spell effects to every other class could have a catastrophic unbalancing effect. So there is an issue with one spell. Dont turn it into an issue with twenty spells.

I would love to see nerfs stop, and have everything else brought up to equal the spell/feature to be nerfed, but it is just not reasonable, sadly.

Plus, if you added better stuff to everyone else to balance it out, you would make the game easier for all the classes that got a good fun spell.

Then the next thing comes along, and instead of "nerfing" one class or group of players, you again "even it out" by bringing everyone up to the same level, and again, you've made the game easier.

After a few years you have a game that people can play from level 1 to 50 in under 3 days and you lose your profits. Bad move on their part, and ruins the game for us.
