Has anyone seen groups of these?

Possibly driven by "platinum selling" companies, these would be a group characters, going around killing /con grey mobs, all of them wearing their IoR armor and weapons.

Or maybe they arrive at a camped area, and agro a mob onto the first group, then scoop up the special spawn.

A person can 6-box a group, run around killing easy mobs, putting the fangs, pelts, and saliva in their backpacks to sell to the merchant.

Multiple operators could generate quiet a sum of cash per day. Then the desperate folks that MUST HAVE cash right now use PayPal to buy virtual cash with real money.

I also took a trip to eBay, seems there are many auctions for gold at various prices. I noticed the location of many of the sellers: China.

Are these operations legal? I don't know, but it seems so, since there are so many of them and there are no warnings (that I know of) from SOE.

Does SOE have any leverage in taking action against these groups? Don't know that either, but I certainly hope so. Maybe we can report them as we would an inappropriate name.

I guess everyone is entitled to make a buck, even if it means exploiting the system.

Thoughts?

I really despise this practice, it undermines everything that gaming should be about. It went on in EQ1 and SoE seemed either unable or unwilling to do anything about it so I guess, sadly, the same will apply to EQ2. I think these people have their dirty fingers in all the online games though, not just EQ Smiley: mad

If you read the EULA that comes with the game, you will see that Sony says that anything that is game related is property of Sony. So, If you can find what server this player is on, Sony will, Hopefully, termanate the account. So, if anyone tries to play under that account name will not be able to play. And this usually goes for all MMO's.
But, of course do you think that Sony would actaully care that this is going on ? Probably not.

In theory, selling EQ money isn't allowed, but in reality, I don't think SOE does much about it. If people are buying Sony's game products, that means that they're (hopefully) going to play Sony's games...which means more money for Sony. And besides, the farmers are paying for their accounts too. A 6-box group costs an awful lot to run.

/agree with you on the fact that Sony only cares about its cash cow when the cash looks like it may stop. Don't agree with you on the cost of 6 boxs tho. other then the cost of the 6 machines the only other out lay would be the monthly cost of accounts. The whole system whould be payed for in less then a week I would think. Course there is that hourly wage to the person playing the if indeed there is one. I am leaning toward 1 player 5 bots myself so only 1 person to pay to play.

But like you say sony don't give a rats **** about that so all we can do is not buy the ebayed monies, and fat chance on that happening

Hourly wage for a 6-boxer in China would be pretty small...

You could also replace China with any third-world country that has an impoverished population and hourly wage is mere cents.
