Crowded server can cause massive lag?Follow

Everquest II
Im running xp2500 1.8ghz
1gig pc2100 ram
geforce fx5600 256 meg(listed in supported cards)
15gigs free/30gigs (installed on seperate drive)

I can run any other game fine. No prob. FFXI on max setting e.t.c. But When i first installed eqII i did splitpaw which had light load. Setting on max. No problem. Im level 8 now and Im in Qeynos, and i cant go 5 steps without it lagging so much im in slow motion. I mean really bad lag. It will catch up when im standing still but when i walk it gets bad. Ok. I turned ALL video settings to minimum so it cannot be a video prob, turned off all sound options e.t.c. Reset game and it STILL does it. It now says splitpaw is a HEAVY load server now. could my problems be caused by the server being crowded. If so is there anyway i can switch to a light server or am I doomed to have lag cuz of too many people. I have no reason whatsoever to upgrade my pc. I need help guys. I dont wanna quit the game cuz its cool. Nor make a new character cuz soon as I do THAT server will be crowded ;;

Well it will affect your gameplay a little to be on a heavy populated server but honsetly, I don't think there are any light populated servers. There are some mediums but until they get smart and make some new servers some peoplw might be out of luck.

By the way you sound like me in qeynos :) But thats cause I have 512 ram. Im also on heavy load Lucan d'lere setrver but THAT doesnt really affect me

Go to options > performance and set to extreme performance if you've not already.

Even when Grobb was lag free (IE before that horrible movelog) I had lag going through qeynos, and my system setup is pretty similar to you (same video, same amount of ram, about same processor). I do have my settings turned up pretty good though.

BB is also laggy, sometimes stormhold.

Try playing on faydark. that server is very empty and see if you notice any diffrence.
Im on splitpaw and I know that sometimes I get bad serverlag there.. What do I do? Change instance and Im fine most of the time.
City's might give you bad gfx lag but thats cause of your settings and computer most of the time.
