She was running as fast as her 1/2 elven legs would carry her, and for the first time in her life was happy for her elven heritage speed and human heritage endurance..... She engaged her "Hunt" Combat Art.... Everywhere around her were things that would just LOVE to have a Nerris for dinner.. but she was more concerned with what was behind her....

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"So, this is what you need?" The little ratonga in front of her was certain her husband was cheating on her.. and making a potion to prove it.. if mine were cheating on me, well... Some things are better left unsaid..

Nerris opened her dusty journal, it had served her well on the Isle of Refuge, and continued to do so now despite it’s age….. She flipped past several pages whistfully.. “Sigh.. fallen gate for that one..”, she thought to herself… moving on to little miss Za Za. “Lizards.. check, hmm.. vulrich.. I’m sure I can track them down..” Let’s see… tracks lead over this hill and.. AH HA!! The motherload.

Nerris stood on the hill and looked out over the field and a sea of the giant birds… She knew their wandering habits as solitary foragers, but they’re also highly aggressive… After a little stealth.. and a lot of exploration, she found a great spot to plant herself after watching their wandering patterns.

“Makes sense, no grass for them to eat in this corner, I wouldn’t wander here either... But it’s a great place to lure them into.”

Despite many attempts the giant birds were simply not able to bring a halt to her speed.. and the sneaky application of poison helped.. One after another they were pulled from large groups and isolated in the killing field… Often in mid fight she glanced over her shoulder.. It was habitual, instinctual... and necessary for her line of work, but this time...

Gustfeather.

In one glace an easy fight had become a pitched battle that had to end... Quickly! She circled the vulrich to keep “IT” in view.. every swing of the dagger was a flap of it’s LARGE wings.. and it was not turning away..

“To break and run is potential suicide. Stay, fight, and take too long is guaranteed suicide.. The field behind me is littered with giant vulrich, beyond that.. undead everywhere..“ Her thoughts of escape routes caused her to miss a strike at a critical moment.. the chance was lost.. and the fight got a little longer.. “damn” she muttered to herself..

“OK! Toward the druid stones, in the direction of the gate to Nek forest. THIS BIRD DIES NOW!!! Then get a bit of distance, stealth.. go and don’t stop!”

With each swing she gained more and more understanding of just how large Gustfeather is.... it was knowledge she cursed her fate for having the opportunity to acquire. This was her third run-in with Gustfeather.. swindlers luck only lasts so long....

------------------------------------------------------------

As she stealthily slipped past the lions and carrion hounds around the druid stones.. Nerris hoped Za Za would appreciate the big problems she had gone through for her little problem and just how many more times she could cheat Gustfeather out of his due....

edit: oh I forgot.. the events are actually a story wrapped around in-game events... that was one scary moment.. that griffion is HUGE

You know? I have never seen Gust...I take it he is the equivalent of the griffon in Thundering Steppes...what's its name...Grimfeather? That is one mean griffin...Sigh...but I think I need him dead...darn it...lol. And there are not trees to hide behind. Not that Grim couldnt knock them down if it really wanted to, but I hope Nerris makes it out ok and I hope she's getting paid big time...lol.

wish I could post a graphic of the map in the commonlands so people could see just how close gustfeather got to me.. I'm amazed I didn't catch aggro...

had I logged in about 8 minutes later I would have literally appeared right under his talons.
