A Heroic Opportunity is the ability for you or your group to start a "chain of events" that will lead to a special attack, effect, heal, buff, etc.

Every class has an ability to start a HO, mages have Arcane Augur. When in combat, you click the HO, a set of icons appear. The colors are matched to archtypes:
Red = Mage
Blue = Fighter
Yellow = Priest
Green = Scout

At the same time, several of your spell/ability icons will begin to flash.

Click on one of those and an HO Wheel will appear. It will display a icon symbol that will match one of your own spells/abilities. Click that spell/ability in your hotbar and you get the HO.

Simply put, follow the flashing icons.

Things to know:
- You have only 10 seconds to complete the HO wheel. Easy when solo, harder when in a group.
- If in a group, several icons may appear. Any archtype in the group can click the corresponding icon to advance the HO. The more icons used, the bigger the bonus. That means in a group of all fighters, there will be little variation of HO's since they all have the same HO set.
- In the center of the HO wheel will be 2 types of arrows. A "cresent" arrow means that the icons must be activated in that order. A "multi-point" arrow means that the icons can be activated in any order.
- You may notice a "green coin" attached to the HO wheel. A Scout archtype can "flip" the HO to a different one to get a differenet effect. Hence, Scouts should be well versed in HO's.

HO's can be a great means to add special buffs, heals, or abilities to your fight. They are critical when soloing a tough mob, you will do significantly more damage. I always use HO's when solo, and use as many as possible when in a group.
