Posions over powered?Follow

#1 Feb 11 2005 at 2:59 PM Rating: Decent
Is it just me or are posions a little over powered, I have a 14 Rogue and I have noticed that his DPS is pretty good without the posions, put on the posions and man his DPS is through the roof.

Was it designed to be this way or should I expect a nerf sometime soon?

I make my own posions with a 17 Scholar and always make the highest end ones I can.

Are all scouts able to use posions or just Rogues?

Someone want to enlighten me on this?

Scouts are a DPS Class, that is what they do and the role they serve in combat. Point for Point, they are the best class by far at dealing damage to a single target. They were design this way, and poison is a critical part of this. If your not using a good poison, you are just an under-powered fighter that cant tank.

Any Scout can and should be using poisons. They serve a number of roles depending on what your doing, so make sure your using the right poison.

If your in an active group, you want a poison with a high direct damage on proc and a low damage over time componet.

If your solo and fighting higher level targets, you normaly want a poison with a low dd componet but high dot. Lets you deal damage during all those misses. ;)

When in a group, talk to the other rogues and figure out what they are using. Two poisons of the same color will not stack on a target. You may even wish to use a poison that deals no damage at all but lowers the enemies resist to attack types used by your group. :)

Note: Poisons work with duel weiled and with bows and throwing weapons. Nothing like a poisoned arrow from a ranger doing several hundred points of damage in the first few secounds of a fight. :)

As a 35 Brigand, poison consists of 1/3 of my DPS, and that is a lot mind you. ^^

I've also noticed poison is more likely to proc on ranged attacks.

Bards cannot use poisons. We certainly wish we could. ^_^

Are you saying you can 'stack' poisons?? I'm Level 21 Ranger. Can I use both Mordant Goo and Acidic Goo or something similar?? But they have to be different colors??? Please let me know!! I've always thought you could only use one at a time. And I would think you'd want to hit the mob hard right off at ranged and then finish them off close up. Knock their points down hard, then you have time to end them when soloing, not wait till they've got you practically dead. I always like to see that bar jump down considerably with a range hit THEN I can end em with my close ups and HO's.
