Hi all, I just started the game a couple of days ago and I am a lvl 10 summoner in freeport. I was wondering where are good places for me to solo to 20? Also where are spell upgrades located? I am sorry if these seem like basic questions, but I am very new to all this.

at 20 you would be able to solo in Nektulos (the skele's or kodiaks in front) or Thundering stepps .
But your best bet is to get into groups in Fallen Gate or deeper into Nek or TS (like owlbears or thexians). Better (meaning faster)xp in groups at that lvl .
As far as spells go , you can get app2 upgrades from the scribe in any zone in FP . but i would reccomend saving your money and buy app3 or 4s (or adepts if you can afford it)from the broker when you can find em . app2s are barley worth the 4+ silver they cost from the scribe .

Regarding spell upgrades:
Don't bother with Apprentice 2 spells, waste of money and not that much more effective.
You're best bet would be to make your own spells. There are several in the Artisan Essentials Volume 10 and below for mages. It is so easy, that as a beginning Priest on the Isle of Refuge, I upgraded Smite to Apprentice 3 using the crafting tables there.
If you do not have the time for crafting, then you may need to buy them frm the broker.
If you are fortunate to be in a guild, ask one of the Scholars to craft some for you.
