New to the EQ worldFollow

I have never played ab EQ game. In fact the only massive multiplayer online game I have ever played was World War II Online (WWIIOL). I was thinkiing about picking up WoW but it just seems too cartoony to me. Can you give a newbie some feedback as to why I should pick EQ2 up?

Thanks in advance.

Well, it all really depends on what you like and dislike in gaming, however if you click here then you will see many of the things EQ2 has to offer.

Warning, its a long thread, and it may take a while to read through all of it.

IMO, it's fair enough to sum it up quite simply.

If you are into RPG's that require more of an investment of time and effort, thereby drawing out the experience, and prefer a game environment that implements all the latest "realistic" graphics styles, go with EQ.

If you prefer more of a fast-paced character development progression and more cartoon-style (for lack of a better word - though they are of very good quality) graphics, go with WoW.

Personally, I find WoW to be quite fun in an instant gratification sort of way. I stick with EQ2 for my deeper gameplay experience fix, though.

Is EQ2 just a leveling game where all you do is level up and thats about it? Everything I have read so far suggests that.

EQ2 is very far from being just a levelling up game. The emphasis is truly on doing quests which as a side-effect give you experience as well as rewards of cash and loot. There is also an excellent crafting system with it's own separate experience bar and levels.

A character can be both an adventurer and an artisan so there are many different ways for one player to enjoy the game.
