Its just normal market fluctuation . Tomorrow it may be back down to 40 .
Personally i love when theres tons of stuff on the market . Makes it cheaper for me to buy and since im not high enough of a crafter to actually sell anything yet,suits me just fine . I dont think theres anything wrong with a lil healthy competition .

the thing I love is the competition on the Adept 1's... saw Dazzeling Gaze (or whatever it's called) Adept 1 for a little over 5 silver this morning...

but the competition on app II's through IV's is nice.. what I don't understand is seeing app II's on the market for 10, 20, even 90 silver. 0_o... they can be bought from NPC's for far less and honestly your money is better served waiting and buying an App III or IV.

I dunno why anyone would buy an app2 in the first place , the boost your spell gets from it isnt even worth the 4 silver or more you're paying . Better to save a bit and buy an app3 or 4 (although people are STILL price gouging on app4s on my server)
I would go as far to say that they could drop app2s from the game and noone would even notice.
