Hi, I am thinking of joining a guild, but I need to know the basics of how to operate within one. I have never been in one so I know nothing about writs and status and all of that. If anyone can give me an overview or point me to a site/link, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

There is a link to how guilds opperate as far as status contribution, etc.
Usually, how you opperate within a guild is determined by how the guild itself opperates. Just take cues from other members, try to be helpfull. Offer your assistance when people ask for help.

Operating within a guild is very easy if you do 1 thing correctly. That one thing is finding the right guild for you. You know you're own play style, goals for the game and so forth. Try to find a guild that focuses towards those same general areas and being part of that guild will be easier than trying to find a good pickup group.
