virtual world items became a commodity a while back... but now it seems people can sue over it.

wow... im .. well im astounded .
I cant believe they are sueing for this . I mean , its a friggin game ( and a bad one at that IMO ,please note i said IMO cause i know other people like it ).
But I dont think Marvel actually cares if people walk around in a virtual world looking like wolverine or capt.amrerica . I think its just another way to get a chunk of someone elses money . Again this is just my opinion and means as little as anyone elses but thats my 2cp .

honestly it doesn't *really* surprise me....

I work in marketing so the concept of intellectual property comes up all the time.. and people will defend it at the drop of a hat.. if they don't it sets up a precedent and they actually "loose" the right to sue later on for a *real* infringement...

I just can't imagine how they would enforce such a thing though.. I wonder if they have a flood of City of Hero's players over at Marvel who have no purpose other than logging in and seeing if anyone looks even remotely like a hero they own the rights to...

but then the article takes it a step farther.. what if Marvel takes a design someone did in CoH... IMO if we can't steal from them.. they can't steal from us.. but I suspect they have the legal team to allow them to get away with it while average joe MMO player does not...

further proof that justice and law don't necessarily have anything to do with each other.
