Arrow types and their uses...Follow

#1 Feb 07 2005 at 10:01 PM Rating: Decent
I am a bit confused about how arrows work in this game. There seems to be no stats involved with the different types. I question why I would buy a more expensive arrow when I can simply buy a cheaper one that does just as well.

So does anyone have any data or information on how arrows work? Do more expensive arrows mean more accuracy? Or some other stat that effects how well you shoot them?

Thank you.

Arrows directly affect damage. The higher the Teir of the arrow, the more damage you will do per hit. You can easily double or more the damage your doing by upgrading to a good arrow.

I was under the impression that a bow that had its min skill in a certian tier would only work with that tier arrow.

Ex. Min skill 65, Tier 2, Iron Arrows
Min skill 125, Tier 3, Carbonite Arrows
Etc.

So i would like to see if someone can verify or test this. Thank you.

At least in EQlive you could see that your bow does X damage and this arrow does X damage and there was a formula you could go by to figure the end damage, at least you could really tell what arrow is higher damage than another. I totally hate the color item con system. It is as if we are retards and cannot fathom the numbers or something.

I really do not like how it is done. I would rather see stat information on the arrows when I examine them along with the colors. Same thing for me goes with things like poisons. I hate the try it and then you know what they do, just too damn stupid a system.

I am still using Gregor's Old Bow at 26 because I prefer the 37 range (what kind of nonsense is a bow with a range of 37 yards??) to the faster bow that the footstool gave me at 20.

It works fine with Tin arrows and with Carbonite.

Some arrow descriptions include things like "Does additional slashing damage"

As a Guardian I use arrows to pull, not to do damage, so I can't see the point in using anything other than the cheapy tin arrows.

Thats cheap imo.
My g/f is a Guardian and she pulls with arrows, the most expenisive she can get. Why? Cause its more damage. More damage = more agro. More damage = mob dies faster.
One arrow per mob isnt really that much cash.
To me its kind of the food/drink issue, I wouldnt want a groupmember that only had lvl 30 food/drink in my group.

Well well, thats just my oppinion.

THe thing that really sucks about arrows is that you can't see what color they are to you until you buy it. At least for me, they all are gold in color until you buy them. Not that big of a deal, but you would think they would fix that.

Also, to clarify, lower tier arrows have less of a chance to do higher damage than higher tier arrows. Theoreticaly though, a tin arrow and a feyiron arrow can do the same damage if shot from the same bow. The feyiron arrow is much more likely to do more damage than the cheaper tin arrow, but that is not guarenteed. The bow is what really does the damage, and the tier of the arrow simply increases/decreases the chance to do more/less damage.
