How does this game Perform?Follow

#1 Feb 07 2005 at 9:47 PM Rating: Decent
Hi, I haven't seen anyone play this game, or seen videos of this game. I come from WoW (most recent game) And so Far the performance Is really good. Yet the servers Blizzard are using, are top notch, The game will lag due to stress (Loot lag, Rollbacks, LD's) My character is only level 52 on WoW. Let me Know how you think EQ2 performs compared to WoW. Would be nice if someone Responded that has played both games. thanks.

P.S. I am considering switching, EQ2 seems like it will have a longer future than WoW. Especially when they get pvp in game:)

lag exists in eq2 as well. there's been some nights in crowded zones where i literally cannot do a thing. everything is delayed for like 30-60 seconds.

i've actually had better lag expierences in wow. :) Albeit i did not play wow during the opening month.

As far as network lag, this depends on what server you are on. I have both Wow and EQ2, I have friends who play Wow and EQ2 so I do both. I find that the lag is more noticable on the Wow server I am on even though it only states it is medium usage.

On my particular server in EQ2, I experience no lag at all, no matter what time of day.

This certainly does not mean that one is better than the other, just that the two networks and servers are different. The poster above may be on a heavily populated server and therefore will see lag, this I am sure will be addressed. But both games have this issue in varying degrees.

it GREATLY depends on your system and the server load...

Crushbone was lag city when I had a character on that server in Qeynos..

I now have a freeport crushbone character (re-rolled) and it's not nearly as bad but still stutters from time to time.

my characters on Toxxulia were lag-free for a LONG time but I've noticed as the in-game population has risen, so has the lag..

regardless of server, I always wake up early on weekends.. and between 6:30 and noon no matter what the server it's smooth (especially in freeport due to the overall lower population at all times of the day)

that said, I'll be first to fully admit I'm running the game over-spec.. 1280 x 1024 resolution... balanced with cloth sim and water interaction turned on.. base system specs:

3.0 ghz p4
1GB of ram
Radeon 9600XT

not bad.. certainly not great...
