Guilds-Writs and StuffFollow

Hi all, some friends and I just started a guild and I was wondering if anyone out there could answer some questions?

I will edit this post to put the answers I get with the questions so that all can see without having to scroll the thread of duplicate answers Smiley: smile

1) Writs - when someone in the guild starts a writ, can anyone in the guild work on it or just the guildies who were grouped with him when he got it?

Answer - Writs are individual, just like quests.

2) Writs - does a writ have to be completed in one fell swoop, or can you work on it for a while and then come back to it later like a quest? And if like a quest, then who can work on it?

Answer - You can start and stop whenever you like, just like a quest.

3) Patrons - I seem to remember something about how many Patrons a guild can have. What is the max number and is there an advantage/disadvantage to having the max number?

Answer - The ideal number is 12 - 36 (the official version), however you can actually have any number but 12 is best.

4) Writs - What are the names and locations of the writ givers for adventuring and for TSing, both Qeynos and Freeport?

There's 4 Adv writ givers and 1 Tradeskill writ giver in each city. Someone else might know all the names off by heart. (Anyone out there who knows the names?)

So, for lower tier writs in Qeynos:
Elddar Grove - Wanderer Greencoast (at the lift)
North Qeynos - Caretaker Nogfizle (By EG zone)
North Qeynos - Guard Williamson (bottom of ramp)
South Qeynos - Pupil Adept Wazlefop (just inside Mage Tower)

I only know some of the 2nd tier, I didn't write them all down.
South Qeynos - Chronicler Steelwill (Mage Tower)
North Qeynos - Disciple Telas'Velle (Temple of Life)
North Qeynos - Guard Rellin'thir (stairs to Citadel)
Elddar Grove - Naturalist Tummyfill (top of lift)

That is all I can think of at the moment, but if I think of more, I will add in, and if anyone can think of info that would be useful that I have not asked about, please post a reply and I will edit it in as well. Thanks all Smiley: grin

Thanks for the input Bluie.

1. Writs are individual just like quests.

2. You can stop and start whenever you like, as you can with quests.

3. The ideal number of patrons is 12 - 36 (the official version), however you can actually have any number but 12 is best.

I don't profess to know an awful lot about guilds but I was listening to a spirited discussion in guildchat the other day about patrons and writs.

It seems that only the members who are patrons can earn status for the guild. Ordinary members can do writs for personal status but it doesn't advance the guild. They have applied a formula to the status to prevenet large guilds automatically outstripping smaller ones. This is that the status earned is divided by the number of patrons. This allows a small but keen and active guild to advance.

The problem arises when the number of active patrons falls. Either they don't log on due to RL or they simply can't be bothered to do writs. Then the small number of active patrons are having their work diluted by the inactive ones.

The upshot seemed to be to have only as many patrons as you could be sure would do writs for the guild and perhaps also to rotate the "honour" so people could do personal writs if they wanted

Well there's 4 adv writ givers to start, but after you finish their writs they send you on to the next level and there's 4 different ones. I don't know if this happens again after that, I haven't gotten that far.

So, for lower tier writs in Qeynos:
Elddar Grove - Wanderer Greencoast (at the lift)
North Qeynos - Caretaker Nogfizle (By EG zone)
North Qeynos - Guard Williamson (bottom of ramp)
South Qeynos - Pupil Adept Wazlefop (just inside Mage Tower)

South Qeynos - Chronicler Steelwill (Mage Tower)
North Qeynos - Disciple Telas'Velle (Temple of Life)
Elddar Grove - Naturalist Tummyfill (top of lift)

Don't have the last one.

Couple of comments - yes, the people who are Patrons need to be committed to doing writs on a regular basis and to be quite sure that the toon who is Patron will stay as their main. However if some Patrons don't play for a bit, it doesn't change the actual equation of guild experience earned by the active Patrons.

When you do a Writ and earn e.g. 1800 status points, that number is divided by the number of Patrons you have and that amount goes to the guild, while the Patron keeps the rest. The ideal number is 12 apparently.

You can't rotate your Patrons. If someone leaves the guild or you remove their Patron status, the guild loses all experience earned by that person, and yes, your guild can delevel!!

So the trick is, choose your Patrons very carefully because you are entrusting them with a chunk of your guild experience as a permanent thing.
