Okay, I am feeling that this is a retarded question. However, I do not know the question to it.

Is 100 silver-1 gold and 100 gold-1plat or is it 1,000 gold is 1plat?

100 copper = 1 silver
100 silver = 1 gold
100 gold = 1 platinum

therefore:

1,000,000 copper = 1 platinum
10,000 silver = 1 platinum

that helps... considering in EQ1 it was 10c = 10s. 10s= 1g . 10 = 1 p.

Kinda messed with me the first time I seen it as well. Before I bought eq2 I browsed ebay to see if any new copies of the game was goign cheap on there. I noticed people selling 1pp for like $150 and thought that was crazy. Of course right now 1pp would buy you almost anything you could want at lower levels in the game.

Feel poor saying I only got 1 gold, but really thats probably about like saying I got 100pp on Eq1?

Makes carrying money around alot easier though.

1 gold is more like several thousand plat in EQ1, in terms of buying power. For 1 gp, you can buy a really decent weapon, or piece of armor, or many spells. That's the equivalent of several thousand in EQ1 terms.

As you said Fronglo, 1pp will buy you almost anything you can think of at the low levels of the game right now. If you can use it, you can afford it (well almost, not counting houses and horses I suppose).

I disagree, 1 plat isn't that much so far. I have made and spent 2 plat, 85g (judging my bazaar total sales) so far and I only have a 25 ranger and a 18 summoner. Granted, the ranger has nearly all Adept 3's and I am working on them for the Summoner. but I could spend a Plat in about an hour. :)

Over what amount of time tho? 4 or 5 months? Wow 2p in 4 months and how much of that is in the bank or is that made and spent?

I know in EQ the first 6 months I had maybe 6000p in the bank and spent maybe another 4000p on top of that. In EQ2 I have made 3p but have only about 30g in the bank, so I think the 2 are pretty close on how much a gold is worth in EQ2 as Plats are worth in EQ

I could spend 1,000,000 plats in EQ in about 10 min hehehe but find it hard to spend even 4 gold in EQ, most gear can be gotten easy so no need to buy it, so other then crafting and adepts and food/water I have no need for real large amounts of cash in EQ2

just my 2 coppers

i agree that 1p in eq2 is probably equivalent to a few thousand in eq1. log in and do an unrestrained search at the broker; what do you find? highest item i found were dragon eggs, one at 9p and the other at 6p. then it dropped immidiately to 2p for various gear, spells and weapons.

making platinum would take a while, depending on what kind of stuff you get to sell (from mobs or tradeskill, etc). however, i think anyone can spend 100p in eq2 in probably less than 15 minutes: "oh i think i'm gonna make a fighter and twink the crap out of them.. yeah, then a mage.. then a priest... then a scout." it's like real life in a sense, you can work for 2 weeks and make $1000, then spend it in less than half an hour.

just my 2c

::edit: grammatical error i couldn't leave =P
